Comments:I was very happy to find this website after spending about two weeks looking for headphones at other places and reading nothing but conflicting advice. Finally, here's a place that says quite simply these are the best headphones at this price, these are the best headphones for this particular lifestyle, etc. I wanted to know what the most comfortable earbuds were in the $100 price range and it was such a relief to find someplace that would just come right out and say it: buy the Westones. So I bought these and they did not disappoint in that area. By far the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn, the Westones are also really solidly made and the ear tips are very easy to remove and change out. I also really like the case that comes with it - nothing cheap when it would have been easy to go that route. Unfortunately, after listening to these for a couple weeks and comparing them to another set I ultimately decided that I wanted something with a bit more punch on the low end (I listen mostly to rock and metal). I decided to sacrifice some comfort to get the sound I was looking for. After contacting earphonesolutions I shipped off my Westones and told them what I wanted in exchange (the Shure SE115). Two days later, I had an email that they had received my Westones, credited my account the difference in price, and had already shipped the Shures! Two days after that I had my new headphones! Honestly, if you have any hesitations about ordering from this site I can't recommend them enough. I wouldn't be writing this review if I they were just adequate in regards to service. You can get adequate at tons of places. But, really, they go above and beyond here. I will certainly shop from them again. Pros:COMFORT!!Good sound for certain kinds of music Great build quality Good look Cons:lacking a little punch for rock and metal music |

Comments:Well, I guess earphones are a very personal thing. I found that although these earphones sound just ok, they don't sound like music. Maybe if you are used to listening to ipod earbuds they sound great, but they just didn't do it for me. I returned mine.Pros:Can hear details ine music. Separation of instruments is very good.Cons:No life at all. Can't hear behind and the space around the instruments. My guess is this is due to a rapid high frequency rolloff, but again this is just my guess. |

I would recommend this item to a friend. Comments:These earbuds make housework and exercising a pleasure. Clear, crisp sound, nice fit and they don't fall out of the ear. I bought these for my son for Christmas 2008. He raved so much about them, I bought them for myself. It's nice to be able to tune out the exterior noises too. I am thrilled with your prompt service as well. |

Comments:This is my first experience with a Westone product. I purchased the UM1 earphones because i couldn't find a pair that stayed in my ears during exercise. The reviews were very favorable towards the UM1 in this area, as well as to the sound quality, which I am also very particular about. The fit is perfect. By far the most comfortable earphones i have ever worn. I took them out for a run the day they arrived and I forgot they were even in my ears. Perfect for active listening. As for sound, I didn't notice a big difference in sound quality from my previous earphones (primarily Sony/Koss/iPod in-ears around $40), even after breaking them in for a week. That was until i tried my last pair of earphones and compared the sound quality. The UM1 delivers much clearer vocals and warmer sound all around. It's like when i first switched to HD TV and looked back at how grainy regular TV was. My only complaint with the UM1s is that the bass is not great at all. If you're a hip hop fan or are into anything that is bass heavy, you might want to try out something else. Oh, and shipping is great. I chose regular (free) shipping, which was estimated at 6-9 days or so. I received it 3 days after i placed my order. So I wouldn't suggest fast-tracking your order, unless you really want them that soon. |

Comments:I've had these earphones only a few days and I already do not know how I got along without them. I use them while on the eliptical, while mowing the lawn and while riding my Harley. They are amazing at blocking outside noise and the fit is very comfortable. I never have to readjust them or reinsert them. They replaced my Phillips Noise Cancelling earphones and the Westone is so superior they aren't even in the same ballpark. Great product at a great price! |

Comments:I've been used to cheap earphones like Skullcandies until the UM1. Wow! I'm hearing things in my music I never knew was there. VERY clear and great sounding. I love the way they fit. Perfect. I burned them in for around 20 hours or so and they sound great. I wish they had a little more bass but that's it. I guess someday I may have to move up to the UM2s. I just wasn't sure about spending that much on them at this time. Earphonesolutions was great. Emailed questions were answered right away and the product shipped to my house VERY fast. I will buy from them again. Great customer service!! Thank you! |

Comments:I was searching for good headphones at an affordable price for my IPOD. I try to buy American made products when I can and came across these in a Google search. I read some reviews,, compared the features and price with the competition, and decided to give these a try. I am glad I did. They stay put in the ear, eliminate a lot of outside noise, and produce great sound (and sound at half the volume of the standard IPOD earphones). Plus, these headphones feel comfortable in the ear. After a minute or two, one can almost forget they are wearing them. I highly recommend these to anyone looking to purchase earphones. |

THey also block out a lot of outside noise!Earphone Solutions was great. Not only were they the best price (with coupon code), they shipped fast. I can't remember the last time I ordered a product and had it at my door so fast. Plus, it was free shipping. I highly recommend Westone and Earphone Solutions! |

Comments:I bought these primarily to reduce wind noise while listening to music while riding. I use a full face helmet that already had speakers installed. These earphones do an amazing job of eliminating the outside noise while delivering outstanding sound quality for the money. They fit great without the helmet but you need some ear room in your helmet to keep the pressure off of them in order to prevent discomfort. They are well made and I would recommend them. |

Comments:These headphones are much more expensive than any I have bought before, but they are worth the money. So far they have not fallen apart like all my other ones had, and they sound good. They are also very comfortable and they don't constantly fall out of your ears, which was another problem I had with other headphones. Good for falling asleep to music. |

Comments:As a small female, I've had a difficult time finding good sound quality headphones for running and cycling, specifically headphones that fit in my ears and do not move. I would highly recommend these as an entry to high-end headphones. The sound quality is very good, although not perfect for audiophiles, but great for the price. I may try a higher-end headphone at a later time for superb sound (I'm kind of an audiophile geek), but will definitely need the foam block style to keep them in place in my ears. |

Comments:I purchased this headphones about 8 months ago. I had a pair of the Um1's for more than a year and I never had a problem with them, until they got stolen. I figured I couldn't live without the same um1's so I purchased them again.About 4 months in, they started to short out in the left ear phone. I figured maybe there was some condensation in the headphone itself and to let it dry. It's been going on and off for the last 4 months. I'm not happy about it, as my previous um1's had no problems whatsoever. As for sound quality, noise cancellation, and staying in your ear through anything, they're seriously great. I love them. They are the only headphone that will allow you to play tennis and have them stay perfectly in place. This goes to say along with the other Westone Products, you can't find a better product. I just wish they had a better quality for lasting enjoyment. |

Comments:I bought two pair--one for me (drummer) and one for my daughter (bass) for on stage in ear monitors at our church. We are using an Aviom system to drive the in-ears. We both find them comfortable and they have a clean sound. If I had it to again however, I'd get the UM-2's to get more bottom end to enhance the sound for both of the instruments we play. |

Comments:I have been looking for earphones that will stay in place while i Bike, Lift , Run...ect! If that is all you want then these are awesome. These have been touted as great workout headphones so i decided to give them a chance. That is where they failed. I can get by the fact that the cord is forever long and i have to blow out my eardrums to get any quality of sound from my i pod. The biggest problem is the second you start sweating they virtually stop working. The sweat gets into the little ear canal and you have to dry them with a moisture saver that takes overnight to even begin to work. There is nothing more disappointing than getting to the peak of your workout and all of the sudden one or both of your earphones stops working. The last thing i want to deal with is my headphones at a time like that, and for the price i should not have to! |

Comments:I ordered these and had 'em in 3 days - can't beat that! I ride an '08 Honda Goldwing long distances. Wings are famous for power and quietness but there's still tire noise and wind noise to contend with. Noise makes you tired and faling asleep at 80mph on 2 wheels is not good! These don't block outside noise as well as shooter's plugs but when you add in a little music they're perfect. Sound is better than anyone could expect on a motorcycle ! I feed my XM thru the bike's stereo and it's awesome. I can't even feel them under my helmet (they fit flush to the ear). I wore them for 8 hrs on the first day in total comfort. Best bang for the buck motorcycle accessory EVER !!!!! THANKS! |

Comments:I bought the westone um1 because it was advertised for use while sleeping and had a reasonable price tag. I have used the more expensive in-ear Shures and others and the westone um1s are indeed most comfortable. The sound quality is more than adequate for my digital white noise nature recordings that I use the earphones with to help me sleep. In addition, I am a commercial airline pilot who commutes to work. The Westone UM1s have decent noise cancelling that only my Bose QC2s surpass. I use them for jogging. Simply put, very good product! |

Comments:My wife purchased an ipod to keep me company on long training runs. I soon gave up on the prospect of enjoying music while on the move; the constant readjustments and inferior sound quality of the factory earphones was frustrating and distracting at best. As a result, the ipod was returned to the original packaging for quite some time. An exhaustive search for a quality product NOT made in China resulted in my ordering the Westone UM1. A wise investment for running with quality music sans the distractions. These headphones are well suited for such a task and have redefined my ipod (and saved its repurposing). I agree with some of the other comments and save my audiophile compulsions for the home setup; however, for me the value and quality of this product is spot on. Indeed, I have enjoyed the Westone UM1 so much I ordered my wife a pair. Earphone solutions deserves cudos for their service, especially the paypal option! |

Comments:The westone um1s are great entry level in-ear headphones for someone looking to get much more detail from there music than crappy ear buds that come with today mp3 players. The low end is subtle but there. Since it's a single driver you'll get the full sound spectrum with very even balance from the highs to lows. I love that fact because the music I listen to isn't very bass heavy so if that's what u want these might not be for you. Just to mention it as well the fit and comfort it amazing. You can forget that these are in. Great purchase. Earphone solutions is a great site with great service and pricing. |

Comments:As an audiophile and avid runner, I was hopingthat the UM1 would provide the most "bang for your buck". To this point I have not been disappointed with the quality or the balanced sound from the headphones. As far as eliminating outside sounds during playback, the headphones are average at best. I would recommed the use of these headphones for the average consumer, but probably not an audiophile or musician. |

Comments:The Westone UM1's were better than expected and I expected a pretty good earphone. I had a great difficulty with the standard earphones with my iPod and I was disappointed with my Vmoda Vibes. With standard earphones I had trouble with fit and sound quality and while the fit was better with the Vibes, I was dissatisfied with sound quality which was sounded simply flat to me. I looked and looked for something priced reasonably and were better sonically than the Vibes. I was impressed with Earphone Solutions website. It seems they used to sell more brands but had "thinned the herd" to the brands that provided the best in terms of comfort, sound and warranty across the price spectrum.I read other customer reviews and looked at Earphone Solutions rankings. Finally I came to the decision to go with Westone. I wish I could afford the Westone "3" but $399.00 was too steep and the UM2 was $299.00 so close to the "3's" price so I thought it was between the "3" and the UM1.I went for the savings. I have always worn my earphones dropped down from my ears with the cords in front and was always pulling the earphones out when active. Wearing the earphones over the ear and down the shoulder takes a little getting used to but it works better for me.I also like the braided cords on the UM1 better. Hate tangled cords which still happens but not as bad or often. Wonder how the new Monster Turbo earphone roll up cords work! I was impressed with the quick shipping from Earphone Solutions and the US Postal Service, across the country in three working days! For the price, I think the UM1's are the best value for the money and I like the clear earphone appearance over a black earphone. A winner for sound, fit, comfort and overall quality at a resonable price. |

Comments:These earphones are very comfortable to wear, including lying with one ear in a pillow. The fit is acceptable with the default earpads, might be even better with some of the others -- I haven't tried them yet. The sound is generally excellent, although if I had a player with tone adjustments, I would probably turn the treble down a little. |

Comments:In 2005, I got a set of the Shure E2c's and joined the world of sound isolation. My need was based on two essential drivers: 1) gym 2) travel. I was very pleased with the headphones relative to my expectations and they lasted until Feb of 09 (one of the cables split and the wire is exposed but they still work). I was determined to get another set of Shure's but after researching for a week decided to try the UM1's due to the raves about the comfort. I am more pleased with the sound quality and the comfort is beyond reproach. My main concern, before buying, was the potential issue with the bass. I don't listen to a lot of bass-intensive stuff but do enjoy a wide range of artists and flat, tinny outputs don't interest me. I have found this can be managed quite effectively by the ipod "equalizer". Durability is still a question but I am sure Earphone Solutions will take good care of me. I have had a very good purchasing experience on this website. I would strongly, stongly recommend purchasing the UM1's from Earphone Solutions to even the most critical and pessimistic of consumers. |

Comments:Why didn't you tell me about these before. Really great value for a reasonable price. The sound is awesome, after dialing in the eq on the ipod. Size wise a little beefier than average buds but easily compensated for in sound. The size just seems big til you put them in, then they are just there. Low profile enough to wear in my motorcycle helmet and not even feel, bonus. If you are even hesitating a little just buy em, they freakin rock. You will be so stoked after puttting them on you will want to tell everyone how great they sound. I am the cheapest, read thrifty, person I know and this seemed like a lot of money. But I already spent half this much on two pairs of so-so buds that no longer work. Having to buy another pair led me to this site with reviews. I read em all and figured this model should be fine. My only regret is if I had it to do over this would have been my first replacement set. |

Comments:I have several different In-ear earphones, from Sony and panasonic to Etymotic Research ER6i (good) and UE SuperFi 5 (very good - but stick out of your ear kinda far) and I have to say that I was disappointed with to sound of the UM1. But they are by far the most comfortable in-earphones, and the twisted cord is just the right length. I wear them at the gym and they block out noise the best. Just wish the sound quality was better. |

Comments:It is a pleasure to review this product and your service. This is my first experience with "higher end" earphones. Previously I used the Apple earphones that came with my iPod and a pair of Skull Candy Smokin' Buds. I'm 63 with partial hearing loss in one ear and constant tinnitus. I use my iPod and a Bose Sound dock playing classical, new age, or soft vocal music to drown my tinnitus when going to sleep. I was looking for some comfortable earphones to use when traveling with out my Sound Dock, and that would also work under a motorcycle helmet. The technician I spoke with in your office was very knowledgeable and helpful. Two days later the earphones were in my mailbox. I was told to expect it to take a few days for them to "fit" into my ears and provide their best sound. So I wasn't expecting them to sound so great right out of the box. But they did. And only got better as time past. I started listening about 7:30 pm. And got carried away reviewing all my favorite music collected over many years. It was like hearing my own CD's for the first time! The bell-like clarity, nuance, tonal range and brilliance were far better than I expected or hoped. Even with my damaged hearing I could not believe my ears. And I just had to hear "just one more" track. Finally gave up and went to sleep at 2:30 am. I am tremendously pleased. Haven't heard music like this for years. Someday I'll try the UM2's or even the Three, but for now I'm blown away. Don't think I'll use them much on the motorcycle however, can't afford to divert attention from other traffic. But they'll be great for crossing Kansas. I recommend these UM1's to anyone who doubts that "expensive" earphones are really worth the price. They are, they really are! |

If you're not getting the bass then verify you have the earphones inserted into your ear properly. If it's your first time using earphones like these it's not intuitive.Second, as a drummer, my ears take a beating (no pun intended). These earphone give me the ability to play how I want, but still protect my ears. No comlaints, only praise. |

I had read that the UM1 might offer a better fit for smaller ear canals, plus I liked the cable design. These things are fantastic. They almost put themselves in. Comments:First the positives: I love the clarity and definition of the sound coming out of these earphones. There is no "enhanced" bass, midtones or treble added by the manufacturer to muddy up the tones - the only way they're going to get any more precise is to upgrade to the Westone 2's, which I can't afford. I use a Zune, which doesn't have an EQ (on purpose), which works fine since the recommendation is to leave the EQ off & simply let the sound be true.I also appreciate the obvious build quality. The braided cord is stronger & of higher quality than the competition, and the typical stress points have been reinforced. I don't see the cord or the stress points breaking any time soon. I also don't pull them out by the cord either, of course. Now the only two negatives: these earphones are meant to have the cords come back over the top of the ear and tighten behind the head - not dangle in front like most. There is a little "bead" that tightens the left & right cords to the base of the back of your skull. I find that the bead constantly loosens, meaning that I'm also constantly tightening it back up. It's pretty entertaining, looking like an idiot with my hands raised and behind my head in the middle of the street, fussing with that friggin bead. It...is...annoying... As is the fact that, since most of the cord is meant to be behind you but most of us keep our digital audio devices in front of us, gravity continually pulls the cord back towards the front, meaning that when there is little cord left in the back your head is going to get tugged on as you turn it. It is very, very strange. It is no problem if you keep your device in a backpack behind you. But as I keep my Zune in my shirt or jacket pocket I find this really darn annoying. Maybe you'll find a work-around for this problem. All in all I would not let those 2 relatively minor yet weird negatives stop you from scoring these earphones. The sound and build quality are outstanding and I don't regret my purchase. |

Comments:Very pleased. They are not $500 earphones but I gave them 5 stars because of how they do on the cost/benefit curve. For the price (especially on sale) nothing touches them. Ones I've tried that sell for $30 less are terrible compaired to UM1s. Phones that sell for twice the price are better but not twice as good. At this price I have nice phones and my world won't end if I lose them.Steve |

Comments:My MP3 player is saving my life, literally making it possible for me to spend hours doing cardio exercises while undoing years of inactivity. The factor that has been the weakest, however, has been the earphones. I went from the standard earbuds to over-ear headphones to badly made in-ear phones and in-ear noise-canceling. If the last set hadn't been so flimsy, I might never have researched the best headphone solution for exercise as well as motorcycle riding. Based on another review, I decided to try UM1s, and they are truly impressive, from the build quality to the design which allows a secure fit and a low enough profile to fit under a helmet. The sound is detailed and true, without the exaggerated bass and tinny highs of the 'phones I had been used to. I am able to enjoy the music at much lower volume levels, and hear details and lyrics that have eluded me for decades. Bottom line, these are comfortable, clear, and enjoyable - allowing me to lose myself in the music while my body endures yet another hour on the treadmill. I highly recommend them. I have spent far more on multiple sets of junk than on this one quality set. Don't make the same mistake. And do your exercises! |

Comments:Amazing earphones. The isolation coupled with the sound quality amaze me whenever I listen to a new track, even when it's one I've listened to many times before (on different headphones). I have, on more than one occasion, found myself thinking I was hearing a sound outside, only to learn that it was part of a song that, 1) I'd never heard before and, 2) was so realistic that I thought it was real. Having owned a pair of Ultimate Ears before, I would say that the build quality is similar (more ergonomic, if anything), with the same attention to mids and highs (the bass is similarly weak) but with even greater definition. All told, a strongly recommended pair of earphones. |

Comments:Like most people who get to this site I spent a lot of time trying to find the best bang for the buck. These were the first IEM I had ever tried and I was very pleased with the comfort and improvement in sound compared to the ipod ear phones. These are really nice if you fly a lot. I have Bose QC3's and these are much easier to travel with and really knock out the noise. I would buy these again in a minute. I wish they had a little more base but they are amazing for what they are and what they cost. Ear Solutions was great and shipped very fast and I will definitely buy from them again. You will be pleased if you buy these. |

Comments:Well made in-ear monitors. The standard tips fit my ear canals without discomfort and do a good job of minimizing external noise so that the volume can be kept at a reasonable level. I'd like a bit more bass, but this is an exceptional value for the money. Maybe Westone will eventually make a model between the UM1 and UM2 since it's a significant price jump to get the dual drivers.Great for use in the gym! They really stay in place while I'm on the exercise bike or running on the track. Very unobtrusive. Because these earphones do such a good job reducing external noise I would not use them to bike or run outside. |

Comments:I was very impressed overall, especially with the clarity in which it played highs and lows simultaneously, which my old sony MDRs didn't even come close to. At first I was a disappointed with the weak bass, but that was probably because the sonys were a bit bass heavy, since after a day or two of using the UM1s, the bass was great.Incredibly comfortable too |

Comments:These are excellent earphones but they do take some time to get used to. They need to go deep into your ears and the flat response may seem lacking at first if you are used to earphones with a more booming bottom end. Give these things a couple weeks and you will be sold. Other areas of note - no cord microphonics, sound isolation just as high as regular soft foam earplugs, totally comfortable once acclimated to the fit. |

Comments:I'm use to good quality foamy headphones which sound good but are bad for sweaty work outs. I've tried a couple cheaper brands and they sounded terrible. I didn't try anything else in the price range of the Westone UM1 but read quit a few reviews of many brands. I took a chance on the UM1 based on the reviews of them on Earphone Solutions review page. There is depth missing in the sound but after a couple minutes I don't even notice.I'd have to listen to all models and brands to be sure but I really believe these are worth the money. I didn't think any earbuds could sound half as good as these do. |

Comments:I researched for a solid week before finally choosing these over the Etymotic ER6i, the Shure SCL2, or the UE Super.fi 4. Basically, the Ety's have the best isolation and can be had on the cheap, but they seem to break often. The Shure's had the least complaints about bass but look awful, and the UE's work with the iphone and have replaceable components. All of them had complaints about comfort. I chose these because they supposedly had a balanced sound, were well-made (in the USA), and above all, were comfortable. All of these are true- the bass can be lacking sometimes (but is present) and the highs aren't as crisp as my old beat up Bose Tri-ports, but overall the sound is very pleasing and balanced, better than the Tri-ports. They are comfortable; not at first but I think that's because I wasn't used to them. Now I can routinely forget they are there. One review said they were low profile enough to sleep in, which isn't really the case for me, but at least the design puts the pressure on the flat of the ear cavity and doesn't shove the inserts deep into my ear canal. Added with the sound isolation, I was more comfortable leaving them in my ear than taking them out the entire duration of a 13 hour flight. They seem well made and rugged; the braided cord is nice and is the perfect length when my ipod is in my pocket. The plug barely fits into my iphone case (an inCase slider), but does if I cram it, so I could see a potential problem there. I don't mind because it makes it nearly impossible to accidentally pull out. These are a 5 for the price, but a 4 in the full spectrum because of the relatively poor sound (relative to much more expensive earphones, that is). If I were to spend less than $150 on earphones, I would buy these every time. |

Comments:I bought the westone UM1 earphones a few months ago. I can honestly say they are the best set of earphones i have ever had. They are a bit more money than the everyday earphones you find in retail stores but worth every penny. The sound is good and the fit is great. I use them primarily for the gym. They never pop out of my ear and you can hardly feel them. They are also great for blocking out any sound from your surroundings, all you can hear is the music. I can highly recommend these earphones to anyone who likes to workout on a daily basis or to anyone who is looking for an upgrade to those garbage earphones that come with your mp3 players. My next investment will be the westone UM2 earphones. I hear the sound is incredible and the fit is just as good but for the price you can't beat the UM1. |

Comments:I'm very happy with these earphones. It was suggested in a couple of places that they would work well under a motorcycle helmet, so I thought they were a good bet. They fit completely in the ear, so they're much less likely to be torn out as you pull on your helmet than other sets. The foam tips aren't great, though. They tend to fit loosely, at least on me. It isn't the end of the world, though. The sound quality is pretty good. I am very happy with it, but it didn't 'wow' me. I can only really compare them to my last earphones, which were shure e2c's. They didn't fit under a helmet well at all, but the foam tips did work better. I think the UM1's are on a par with, or maybe just below, the e2c's. I guess I'd say that if you want to wear them under tight-fitting headgear these are wonderful. If you don't they're a good option. Also, I have to admit they do look pretty slick. |

Comments:I own the Shure SCl3's and absolutely loved them. Unfortunately while cleaning them I accidently unscrewed the 'tip' (the protruding horn for the speaker) and lost it. So I set out to purchase another set. After much study, I decided to try the Westone UM1.When the box finally arrived I eagerly opened to find a well packaged set of UM1's. I read through the manual and figured out the proper way to use these beauties, and I must say, they fit soooo well. Better than anything I have worn before. When they are properly in place you can hardly notice they are there. I was very happy. Initial sound check easily put them on par with the Shure SCL3's. The second biggest reason I use in-ear sound isolating earphones is so that I can keep the volume way way down, and still be able to listen to my music or podcasts throughout the day, while allowing important outside sounds to keep me alert. The UM1's worked beautifully. I was able to keep my sound level at around 2 to 5% of max. Unfortunately after about an hour of use, the left channel earphone stopped working to my dismay. I thought at first it may have been my iPod, so when I got home I tested the UM1's on multiple devices with the same results. The left earphone was not functioning anymore. Testing with my Shure SCL3 and a couple other cheap headphones I found no problems. I really liked the Weston UM1's while they lasted (short as it was) but am now waiting to send them back in the hopes that these were just a fluke bad set. Time will tell. In the mean time I have purchased another set of Shure SCL3s else where just incase. I'll hold off final judgement when Earphone Solutions finally gets back to me with where and how to return the crap pair. No word since I spoke to the nice service person last week. My busy work schedule makes it hard to continuously phone and hound for service repair. Mars |

Comments:I play drums with the worship band at my church and needed my own pair of ears to replace the loaner Shure E2's they had let me use. These seem to be comparable to those I had been using. I use the long comply tips that come with them and they isolate well, even considering I am playing drums in between a drum sheild and the wall behind me. I run them off of an Aviom and they sound good. The fit is good and they are definitely comfortable. This may sound goofy, but in my opinion, they look more professional than the black or white shures. There were only two things that sort of dissapointed me about these. One was that the cinch piece in the back seemed to slide out of position easily, but that was easily remedied with an email to the earphone solutions staff. They told me how to cross the cables and slide it over the X and it worked. The only other thing I was sort of bummed about was the bass response but this may just be my ears because I've heard many people like the bass in these. I have been using them for about 3 weeks wondering if they would burn in and the bass would be more defined and I've made sure that I'm getting the best possible seal, but it's just not there especially when plugging them in to my ipod. On stage it's not really an issue because I get the ambient bass from the house and the Aviom seems to drive them a bit lower. But if I plug them in to my iPod for practice or just listening, they sound pretty tinny to me. I met a guitarist for a national touring Christian singer this weekend and he was using the UM2 with a custom molded insert and said the UM2's were the way to go if you have the resources to go that way. Overall, I would say I'm happy with these for the price and what my primary use is. I also think that if you're testing the water with in ear monitors they are a good first step. |

Comments:Overall, I'm pretty happy with these. The sound seems great all around, and they are very comfortable. I got them to block out the obnoxious radio music at my gym and they are great for that! The foam ear inserts did not come with cleaning instructions and cost $7 a pop for new ones, so I wonder if I'll end up spending quite a bit over the life of them in replacements. My only other complaint is that the plug surround is too large for my ipod cover, so I can't use them with the cover on. This seems like certainly an avoidable problem with a better design. |

Comments:I work out quite regularly and have had issues getting a decent pair of IEM's or Ear buds to stay in my ear and not fall out or loosen up. These are by far the most comfortable ear phones ive ever worn hands down. So I've had them now about 3 weeks, and have put them to every possible test I can think of to get them to fall out. I started off with biking then moved onto the cross trainer and they never budged. The next day I used them while i lifted weights and had no issues. So I figured I would stop messin around and put them to the real test. Out in the heat running hard. They stayed put and actually are so light i thought they were falling out a couple times only to find they were still tightly seated and the sound was pretty good. Since then I have tried several other activities and to no avail they do not budge I even tried playing basket ball as well as jumping rope and they came out perfect. The only down fall that I see is the Comply tips seem to wear pretty fast although I use mine 2-3 times per day for workouts and have not had to replace them, I can see the wear. Not a big deal they are a cheap replacement and definately worth the money. If you lead a active lifestyle and are looking for decent sounding IEM's or earbuds this is it. If you want AMAZING sounding step up to the UM2's or the new UM3's. They were a bit outa my price range but for the money. I don't think the UM1's can be beat for comfort. |

Comments:I had a set of Shure SCL-2s that I lost...so I replaced them with these, per suggestion from a friend. They are both around the same price range, entry level in-ear earphones. These sound very clear and accurate, and the bass response is there. Not muddy at all. They were also very comfortable and didn't fall out easily. The earpiece compresses as you squeeze it, then it expands in your ear, ensuring a snug fit. You can hear all the small details of your audio. I hope I can upgrade to UM2s in the future, but this is all I can afford right now, and I'm very happy! |

Comments:These earphones are a great investment! I had tried a few other brands in the past and always had problems with room noise filtering in. With the UM1 I have absolutely no excess noise and only hear what I need to in my in-ear monitor. They are also great at reducing outside noise while listening to an MP3 player. |

Comments:I have tried many earphones in the lower range the ones I owned the last were by philips 35$ is wat they cost me... they weren't pretty good on the sound clarity as UM1's but they do gave me some nice bass. They are bit low on bass (I know it said in the description flat response) but I guess once I got used to them they are working fine for me |

Comments:Wow! I have had these for a few weeks now, and I can't say enough about how much I like them. After my second pair of V-Moda buds broke within a few months of ownership, I bought a cheap pair of Skullcandy buds from the dept. store. They lasted about two weeks. I went back to using my Senn HD595s around the house, and realized it was time for a quality pair of earbuds too. After weeks of research on brands such as Shure, Ety, UE, Bose, etc. I found this website and saw the reviews of the Westone UM1. I did some more research on them and learned that they are a major player for pro IEMs and custom earmolds.I had a tough time deciding between these and the Shure SE110. My decision was swayed by the Comply tips, durable braided cables, and US manufacture. Sound quality is excellent, Low-Mid-High frequency ranges are all equally represented and warm. Bass is tight, not overdone. Comfort is also by far the best, and these actually stay in my ears while on the treadmill unlike any other earbud I've tried. I can only imagine how the UM2s sound, so perhaps someday I will upgrade but I feel very well compensated for my $100 investment. Thanks for introducing me to such a wonderful product. |

Comments:I have had these for a few days now and am very happy with my purchase. So far my observations are: Comfort: A+ You won't find a more comfortable pair of IEMs at any price. The "memory foam" tips are top notch, and make a perfect seal in about 20 seconds. Quality of construction: A+ again. This is my fourth pair of IEMs in the last 2 years. I'm tired of shoddy materials and poor quality. I don't expect to have any issues with these, they are light years ahead of other brands I have tried. Braided cord is stellar. Sound: A (adjusted for price) Balanced and warm sounding, with a flat profile. They really bring out the flaws in MP3/ACC files though. Be warned, they may turn you into an audiofile if you aren't one already. Sound is comparable to my Senn HD 595s. I would prefer a bit more bass extension, but that's a personal preference. Seperation is also very nice, mids and highs are clear and accurate. Overall, for $100 you can't go wrong. I haven't tried the new Shure Se110s, but I can't imagne them besting these. Especially when you consider quality of construction (USA Manufactured!) and comfort into the equation. |

Comments:I have had my UM1 earphones for about 3-4 months. They are my first real decent pair of headphones, previously having used some Sony NX-1s. My biggest concern was, of course, getting better sound quality, but also comfort and very important, that I be able to wear my new headphones while wearing my motorcyle helmet (no problem here).First off, after having personally tried all the price-competitive models from Etymotic, Shure, and Ultimate Ears, I can say that dollar-for-dollar, the UM1s are def the best, on almost every dimension. I liked Ultimate Ears in that the cord is replaceable but the UM1 twisted cord is super durable. Unlike, especially Etymotics ER-6/6i. Garbage, seriously, easy to tangle and will wear out soon. Also, Ultimate Ears stick way too far out of your ear to comfortably lie on a pillow (impossible for a helmet). Other than that issue, I might have bought them. At this price range, Shure simply doesn't compete. Their equivalent earphones are two to three times the size, for starters, which make them uncomfortable obviously. Simply a nonstarter for me. Overall, very happy with my choice. These are the best earphones you can find in this price range. Highly recommended. Read other reviews for details on the sound quality, but trust me when I say that for size, fit, comfort (I've worn my UM1s for hours w/no pain), and build quality (including the cord), the UM1s can't be beat. |

Comments:Ok so now I am prepared to write a review after having these babies for 5 months. Let's start with sound: Hmmmm ok agreed sound is better than the stock i-pod buds but hold on that doesn't justify its price of $109. May be around $60 would have been good. These IEM's have great highs, alright mids and poor lows. I should have got the senn CX 500 for this price, they are equally comfortable and have better base and equal clarity if not better. The UM 1's have amazing sound isolation way better than senn's. These buds are extremely comfortable, but very costly for this price. The cord is braided and so chances of tangling are reduced. These come with a good carrying case which is very handy and protects the expensive earphones. If these headphones were for $ 60 or so then they would have deserved 5 stars but for that high price of $ 110, I don't think they deserve 5 stars. These are best suitable for vocal, and classical music but not so much for bassy music. Not that I am a bass head but these certainly lack the warmth to some extent ( and yes I did get a secure fit, you can't go wrong with the fit on these, they are easy to fit) |

Comments:I have had my UM1 earphones for 6 months. Prior to these I was hooked on Shure and living in the UK had stumped up the ÂŁÂŁs to buy them, going up through the models from E2C through to SCL4. In their own right the Shure models are amazing, and with the right buds had a nice fit and a really professional sound / finish. Then I read how Westone were the designers of the original Shure products and gave them a try.Wow! What a difference. The cables are far more plyable and with the sponge buds the phones are perhaps the most comfortable I've ever worn. I accept that when you compare these to the SLC4 Shure phones for sound quality - when tested to studio / laboratory levels - the mid and high ranges don't quite match up, but if you're listening to a good MP3 player, you probably wont notice the difference. I'd recommend these to anybody, whatever your choice of music, for personal use and I'd say to invest in a few packs of the sponge bud tips for comfort. Sponge tips also make the noice cancellation work a lot better too. The only reason I'd change would be if I decided to invest some cash and go for the UM2.....otherwise these are the best I've had. |

Comments:I've owned these headphones for around 6 months after my Shure's died. I really like the slim profile (the Shure's always stuck out too far) and the good sound. I mainly wear these to the gym and after a few uses the sound went dead and dulled. I read the manual and saw that you shouldn't expose these to moisture, but I never had any problems with sound with my Shure's. I have to let these things dry for a day before the sound comes back, and it seems like its getting worse (as stated in the manual. They sound great and are very comfortable but I am extemely disappointed that I can't wear these to the gym regularly as thats really the only time I listen to my mp3 player. So if you're looking at these to wear to the gym be warned. |

Comments:The UM1 is by far the best fitting earphones I have ever tried. I have a pair of the shure EC2 and these are better fitting and far more precise when it comes to sound quality. Comments:I've tested all the brands, and a variety of levels of quality. I keep coming back to Westone. I think that Westone earphone capture a LIFELIKE tonality that other phones do not. They are also the best at comfort. Even that another earphone might have a little more treble detail, or a little more bass, the UM1 is naturally balanced with a lifelike sound. UM1 easily my favorite in this price range. |

Comments:This is my frist pair of higher quality earphones. As someone who has never tried anything other than middle to lower quality Sony and JVC brands, these rock my socks off. I have ridiculously small ears (1.5'' long) and I could never find inner ear earphones that would be small enough for me. These are it. They stay in very well, and are very comfortable. One con is that the ComplyTips are difficult to put on the device. I would reccommend these to anyone new to higher qulaity headphones and for personal MP3 player use. Thank you earphonesolutions.com for helping me make the right decision! |

Comments:I've had my UM-1s for about 2 weeks now and impressed with the fit, isolation, and overall tonality.I work in pro audio for my living, and I find the UM-1 to have a balanced, un-hyped response. Those who complain about the "bass" must listen to techno/trance/drum & bass or other such "unplayed by human hands" material with artificial LF content. I used the UM-1s to monitor the microphone placement and progress of a new digital recording of our symphony, and found the bass level and tone to be very consistent with what the microphones were picking up. Again, the description that comes to mind is "un-hyped." People used to listening with the acoustic equal of the "smiley-face EQ" with the bottom 2 octaves and top 2 octaves boosted all the way, I'm sure these aren't the ticket. If you want to hear what is really there I suggest these. I prefer them to the Shure E2 by a long shot, and I think one would have to spend considerably more $$$ to get a product that is actually superior. If you want a product that does the EQ for you, move on, these don't do that. |

Comments:I started with the Sure E2G, sound was ok nothing out of this world. the fit was very uncomfortable so I exchanged them for the UM-1, now the fit is excellent, they do block the outside noise,(25db suppression) the sound: lack of bottom end bass ,the mids could get muddy at times. I guess it is a decent compromise between confort and sound.A friend of mine purchase a set of creative Zen aurvana headphones $99. Now this puppies have excellent bottom end (clear bass) and the highs are crisp.Westone have some serious competition in the same price range headphones. If you want to spend $100 for a decent set of headphones it's worth giving them a try. |

Comments:The day I received these, two friends had just bought bose products; one the Quietcomfort 3, the other bought the In-Ear Headphone. The UM1 produced more accurate sound from all frequencies than either of the Bose products. The incredible fit offers the same amount of noise cancellation at 1/3 the price. These gems are simply a steal of a deal. |

Comments:These earphones are a little disappointing for my taste. The sound is flat and dull. Reminds me of listening to music on am radio. Good mids, poor definition on bass and highs. However, the fit is very comfortable with excellent sound isolation (I have small ear canals...is that too personal??). The sound quality seems to vary with the style of music. Overall, I prefer my sennheiser pmx70 earbuds for sound quality and for half the price of the um1. I guess I need to buy the $400 earphones to get the sound I want. Forget it. |

Comments:I had the opportunity to compare the UM1 with the V-Moda Vibe on a side by side basis with the identical music. The UM1 performed well except for some mid range 'muddiness'. On the other hand, the V-Moda Vibe performed exceptionally well across the frequency range. Excellent, but not overly exaggerated bass, yet clear and very well defind mid range and treble. The UM1 is very very good. The V-Moda Vibe is simply better in audio quality. |

Comments:To start off, these headphones are very excellent in many different ways. They have amazing sound isolation, and they absolutely stay in your ear no matter what. I played an hour of tennis with these in, no problems. One thorn to pick is that everyone said the sound quality is amazing. I cannot say I'm sold on that, I've listened to my previous $40 iPod headphones, in one ear and the UM1's in the other. They don't sound much different, nothing too special about the sound. All in all they are great headphones. They do the job of isolating sound. Not the best sound though. Recommended nevertheless. |

Comments:I absolutely hate the standard earbuds that come with the iPods - they don't fit my ears well at all, they were constantly falling out, and the sound quality was pathetic. As a result, the iPod was practically worthless to me. That was until I received my Westone UM1 earphones. What a huge difference! The UM1s fit great. They are small and comfortable, and sound 10X better than those $^%! earbuds. I just wish I could justify spending the extra $200 for the UM2s. In my opinion, the UM1s should be the minimum required equipment for all mp3 players. Highly recommended. |

Comments:The Westone UM1 is clearly a significant upgrade to the earbuds bundled with consumer mp3 players: good isolation, great audio. Their performance is to a great extent dependent on the source, i.e. how good the associated amp/player is. I noticed better bass and high end extension when listening through my computer soundcard than with my flash mp3 player. This is why all earphone reviews must be evaluated carefully. In many cases, I think one is reading a review of the associated electronics as much as the earphones. that being said, the Westone UM1 will appeal more to audio purists than to the Hip Hop crowd. The presentation of the UM1's is overall very natural, albeit with softly rolled off highs and articulate, but not powerful bass. Vocals are especially good, entirely free of sibilance. This is an earphone you can wear and listen to for hours without fatigue. Comfort is super with the enclosed gray foam tips. I have not tried the yellow comply tips. |

Comments:Quite simply, an excellent choice to replace factory standard ear buds. Immediatley you'll notice a huge difference and will forget quickly about the $110. I compared the Shure's 3&4 and found that the Um's were more comfortable, equal in sound quality, lower profile and about $100- $200 cheaper. I like the 25 db reduction in background noise which comes in handy for air travel and motorcycle riding. The lower profile is also a plus; comfortable under helmet, I can lay on my side and listen in bed comfortably. The cord is superior to the shure. It is limp and comfortable where I find the shures to be rigid and heavier. I am giving the product a 4 star rating based on value and performance, though I would expect that the UM2 is a 5 star choice, offering everything I mentioned previously and better sound quality, of course they are about $200 more. |

Comments:I just purchased the Westone UM1 as an upgrade to my Ultimate Ears Super.fi 3 Pros. The UM1sfit better, have clearer mid and high range sound and they have a better cable than the Ultimate Ears. Which is a godsend for when I go jogging with my Ipod Nano, it's good to have such great cables. I have small ears and the standard length Canal Comply tips fit so much better than the foam tips that came with the Ultimate Ears. I am now pursuing getting the custom ear pieces made for me since my left ear canal is slightly deformed due to a facial injury sustained while skydiving many years ago. The UM1's fit better than any other earphones I have ever used. If your current earphones are hard to fit, try the UM1's, you won't be disappointed. |

Comments:I am extremely impressed by the shipping standards of FMA solutions. Ordered late at night on Tuesday with a 2 day shipping option and received my earphones on Thrusday. Thank you.Now for the earphones. I previously owned the Audio Technica CM-7Ti model earphones. These are open style (which means music leaked out) but had great sound. The Westone UM1s obviously surpassed these earphones at the same price. They are extremely comfortable once you get used to them and the sound is exceptionally clear. For the bass, if you are one of those going for thumping bass, I recommend the Shure phones. In my experience, the Westone products focus on more natural clarity of sound. Compared to the etymotics, it is not as meticulous, but then again, a much more smoother experience. It is perfect in the bed as the earphones won't interfere with your sleep. If you have some money but not enough for the UM2s or Triple driver phones, and if you are one who wishes to hear "pure clarity", then I strongly recommend the UM1s. I use them on my iPod all the time. Sit back and enjoy. |

Comments:I agree with others that these UM1's are very balanced. Now that is not to say that you can't adjust to your taste with an equalizer or "WOW" if you have it. The UM1's can produce tons of bass, mids, highs but they are factory set for balanced sound. Now for the fit. Once I learned just how to insert them properly, within 5 mins they seem to disapear, can't feel them in my ears at all. I beleive these are the best for the money. You will have to spend 200 to beat these. |

Comments:I'm not an audiophile and this is my first IEM. I'm definately content with my UM1s. The small profile makes it easy to lay in bed on your side without somethin sticking out too much. Isolation is good with the provided comply tips, use these with my zen all the time on the airplane. I did get some noise from when the cord was positioned in certain areas or bent in a certain fashion. The little plastic piece that secures the line behind your neck seems a bit cheap, but doable. Sound quality is good, as everyone else has said. One thing I wish I did was buy comply tips, I'm almost out after a few months. The triple flange is too big for my ears so i couldn't really use those. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the UM1s. |

Comments:Great all around sound, comfortable fit, and solid build quality. Stepping up from the Sony MDR-EX71SLs, which are known for being bass heavy, I don't feel like I've lost bass with the UM1s but rather gained clarity in the bass. A huge step up.As they're my first IEMs that provide substantial sound isolation, I am not only enjoying music at a far lower volume than I used to, but I find myself turning down other sources as well. It's just not comfortable to blast it and now I know there's an alternative. I'm a "bang for the buck" shopper and the Westone UM1 is definitely where it's at. Comments:In a word...comfortable. they always feel great and nothing is better at the gym or jogging on trails.obviously the sound isn't on par with dual driver sets, but the price isn't either. for $100, i haven't heard anything better and i have tried the shure e2, e3 and e4. i also own triports and the b & o phones (i have been trying to find the right ones!) and i think my searching has finally ended. all in all, these earphones combine the best features of all of the above, great comfort, great sound, great isolation and awesome value. |

Comments:No problems whatsoever with Earphone Solutions. I'm glad that I bought them here. The UM1's are nice earphones. The sound is very nice. Flat and even to my ears. They don't blow me away. I had some Sony noise cancelling NC-11's and to my ear those sounded just as good and maybe even a little better - but they were very fragile (one side just stopped working) and had lot's of cord noise which made working out with them a real pain. Earphone Solutions sent an instruction sheet telling you how to use the UM1's and that it would take ten days or so to get them to fit right and I will say that you should listen to the advice. It took a while to get them to feel and sound just right (my left ear inserts at a slightly different angle then the right and it took a few days to figure it out) but now using them is second nature and the sound is good, No cord noise to worry about when working out and they really are very comfortable. It sure would be fun to try the UM2's but for the money I think these would be hard to beat. |

Comments:wow. listening to them now, and i'm hearing things that i have never heard before with any of the 10 pairs of headphones i've owned.(none IEM's) I can't compare them to the other IEM's because i haven't listened to them, but these are WAY better than the iPod ones. Very sufficiant bass and increadible clearness. Couldn't want more. |

Comments:first of all, great response from this store. quick processing and fast shipping. the um1 sound great out of my x5L for this price. they have a slightly warm sound, with phenomenal vocals. bass is good and responds well to eq. perhaps not the best for symphonies but besides that, they excel. |

Comments:Reviews that are not relevant will be deleted. Example: "these are great" "this sucks", "the left doesn't work". Reviews that are relevant: "This sucks because the earpiece hurts my ear and they keep falling or they don't have enough bass, or they don't have enough highs, etc.". If a product arrives and it's defective you cannot post a review saying they suck because in fact you got a defective product. Since you are covered with a 1-2 year warranty and your earphones will be replaced at no charge, save your review to a fully working earphone. It's not fair for our readers. If after receiving a fully working replacement you find they are bad for one reason or another, you are welcome to post your review with whatever relevant critics you have on the product.Thank you, EarphoneSolutions.com |

Comments:Just got these yesterday. I don't think there is a better iem in this price range, miles better then shure e2's and e3's and the option to go with custom molds is great. Warm and very musical, with a touch of high-end rolloff, I can listen to these for hours. |

Comments:The UM1s are super comfortable and sound really good with the Comply Tips. I found the triple flange to be a bit uncomfortable but after trimming off the last flange, they became just as comfortable as the canal tips. UM1s are a great value and sturdy in design. Earphone Solutions gave fast responses to any questions asked and quick service. Thanks Flavio and staff! |

Comments:Not quite detailed as the ER6i but these earphones have wonderful mids and better bass. Bass is very good. Tight and punchy. Have a slight mid bass hump. Lower bass extends quite a bit. Mids are sweet! Vocals sound very good on them. UM1's treble is a little recess compared to the ER6i. UM1 is a musical earphone while the ER6i is more analytical. The UM1 can sound a bit muffled especially after listening to the ER6i. Very good for rock/metal/pop songs. The UM1 have a warmer, lusher and fuller sound while ER6i have a more metallic, brighter sound. UM1 doesn't have the prominant details of the ER6i but its still there. To my ears, the UM1 is more musical, balanced earphone. The ER6i is a bit lopsided, leaning towards the treble. A more analytical earphone. So depends on the individual, both are equally good. I personally prefer the UM1. |
