Best Guitarist/Vocalist Monitor on the market today
By Felix from Port Coquitlam, British Columbia on October 31, 2009
IF you area guitarist or vocalist looking for the perfect monitor for on-stage monitoring. Then the ES3 is a perfect choice for you. Westone has tuned the es3 so there is a mid-range bump to enhance vocals and guitars, which is rather pleasant as long as you like the both. The clarity in the mid-range is unmatched, even being the owner of Shure Se530, the special mid-range on the Se530 just don't offer the detail and clarity that the ES3 offers.

Comparing the monitor to the ES3X, highs are very similar however the ES3X does offer a smoother, and slightly more detail on the high-frequencies. In terms of low frequency response, the ES3X are quicker and deeper with a similar magnitude of power to th ES3.

If you are one of those special musicians or instrumentalist that is looking for the best on-stage monitor for guiatrs, vocals, etc...then the ES3 is a perfect match for you. Build quality is at the best, with a load of accessories and fantastic service from Earphonesolutions and Westone. Listeners out there, don't be disappointed as if you are one of the music listeners or audiophiles that just plainly likes the vocals and mid-range right in your face, the ES3 would be perfect for listening as well.
    Pros:
    -Clear, detailed high frequency response.

-Unmatched Mid-range detail, clarity and overall performance.

    -Deep, accurate lows.

    -Extremely well built

    -Lots of accessories

    -Awesome customer service from Westone
    Cons:
-Not all may appreciated the mid-range bump

-Lows may not be powerful enough for some listeners

I would recommend this item to a friend.

After selling custom earphones for 5 years, we concluded that they are not for everyone. For that reason we stopped promoting them. Aside from the fact that your ear canal shape and size changes with time, we have found that there is a great chance of you prefering the universal fit earphones and the percentage that we have seen for that is pretty high. In our company, 50% of us prefer our universal fit earphones while the other half prefers the custom. Another aspect to take in account with the custom is that they are not as easy to put in and pull out as the universal fit ones. In my personal case, my custom earphones reach too far inside my ear canal, making them uncomfortable and sometimes painful. This is just my opinion. Also, when the impressions are not done correctly, you need to go back to your audiologist and "convince" him/her that he/she didn't do a good job and he/she needs to do it over (preferably at no charge :)). The process is frankly tricky, laborous, involves 4 different parties (customer, audiologist, manufacturer and reseller) so there is a lot that could go wrong and the end result is not guaranteed to be a better experience than what you get with the universal fit ones. In this day and age, where a Westone 3 for example, features a 3 way crossover with 3 drivers per earpiece, I personally made the decision to discontinue selling and promoting custom products on our site. Based on my experience and on a good percentage of our customers through these 5 years. More expensive does not mean better ;)
