Best for the money. Period

I would recommend this item to a friend.
Comments:
Outstanding sound for the money. Like listening to a component set up in your living room. Crisp highs, full lows, surprising for this price range. I purchased these when ES offered the custom red 'phones with red case. I get comments about them all the time when wearing them and have turned quite a few people on to Ultimate Ears and ES.
Pros:
Great sound for price. Metal Case
Full range of tips to find perfect fit.
Cons:
Cord can produce some crackle if not properly seated on ear phone. Issue to find proper seating in ear.
Good with One Exception

comfort is good. packaging and accessories is good. sound: the highs are tremendous. the bass, however, is almost non-existent. that is my major disappointment. i would recommend these to others with only the one gripe.

Enjoy Listening To All Types of Music...
By Ro on March 7, 2009
Comments:
These earphones definitely met my high expectations. I think they deliver excellent performance for all types of music, and they are affordable, which was one of their selling points for me. (I listen to rock, r&b, hip hop, electronic, but do not like a 'bassy' sound.) I haven't tried the comparable Shure earphones, or any of the other high end earphones that are offered on this website, so I wouldn't be able to compare them to higher priced options. I can say that these are my favorite choice for commuting. I am not an audiophile, and so am not going to pretend that I can describe the type of sound they provide. Nevertheless, I can say I really enjoy listening to music with these earphones. (I have Grado Labs SR-80 and Sony MDR-V6 headphones for home use which I also like for different reasons.) You do have to work at getting a good seal with the right ear tips to appreciate the sound quality as mentioned. The insertion and "seal-creation" method recommended is non-intuitive, so you should read the directions if you haven't used earphones like these before. It took me about two weeks to get good at it, so if you are not patient then be forewarned.
Ultimate Ears Super.fi 3 Studio

Perfectly clear sound and suitable garniture. Maybe buss a little bit less then I wish but I gues because it is Studio version. Any way bass so detailed as well as middle and treble. I am very very glad.
Great except bass
By David G on January 29, 2009
Comments:
The general sound quality is excellent and the earphones are great value for money. There is only one clear drawback and that is a distinct lack of bass. Hence, if you listen to alot of rap and hip-hop then these aren't the earphones for you. Otherwise, I would highly recommend them for other music types.

Great Earbuds, Did a comparison to Denon AH-C252 and Shure SE110
By Lionel on November 10, 2008
Comments:
I initially purchased the Dell AH-C252 ear buds as my first “ear bud” phones. Prior to that, I used the Koss Porta-Pro, over-the-head headphones. These perform magnificently for over-the-head phones for the price, despite the retro look. Anyway, on with the review.
I’ll be discussing three types of ear bud phones and provide my analysis of each based on performance, comfort, and construction/quality. The brands are the following:
1. Denon AH-C252
2. Shure SE 110
3. Ultimate Ears Super.fi 3 Studio
MP3 Players Used: Ipod 30GB 5th Gen Classic and Ipod touch 32GB 2nd Gen.
1. Denon AH-C252: These are an above average set of ear buds. They pump out deep bass. Bass is sometimes overwhelming with bass laden R&B tracks. Jazz and Rock sounds pretty decent. However, I’ve noticed that if I put the Ipod EQ on treble booster, the sound becomes a bit flatter which evens out the tone of the music. This also forced me to drop the volume a notch, since the highs were almost jarring. These are loud ear buds. None-the-less, once I found the right settings, they perform well above the average and out perform the stock ipod buds hands down.
These ear buds come with three different sizes of silicon tips to give you the perfect fit. I found the smallest tips to work best for me. The ear buds are small and the tips are angled to go with the natural contour of the ear anatomy. They are extremely comfortable and provide great noise isolation. I’d say at least 20+ db of outside noise is isolated once you achieve a good seal.
The construction/quality of these phones is average. The cabling is very thin and tangles easily. There is also a bit of play on the cable where each side goes into the ear piece. This could be a problem if they were to get snagged on something.
With that said, these are Denon’s entry level ear buds. I paid 29 Euro for them and I think they were a great deal for the price. A decent upgrade from the stock ipod buds.
2. Shure SE 110: These were Shure’s entry level phones. However, I think the SE 102 model is now. The SE 110 is the new equivalent of the Shure S2c. With Shure, the name speaks for itself if you know anything about ear buds/headphones. These phones produce near studio quality sound. The bass is good, but not as crisp as I’d like. The midrange and highs sounded a bit lagging, but, once again, treble boost on the ipod brought the sound out terrifically. My jazz music sounds like I’m right there with the artists.
These ear buds come with a fit kit that includes several different sizes of silicon/rubber and foam tips. I found that the smallest foam tips worked best for me. In order to achieve optimum sound, these ear buds have to be inserted a bit further into the ear actually sliding into the ear canal. They are a bit uncomfortable to me but not unbearable. These are over-the-ear ear buds, which means you wear them with the cable facing up and winding it behind the ear and back down to the front to the player. It takes getting used to but it is a more secure fit. These isolate an incredible amount of outside noise because they’re actually in the canal forcing you to hear nothing but music. I still find the Denon set more comfortable.
These ear buds very professionally constructed. They have very thick cables that don’t tangle. They are durable and look like they might last longer than the actual ipod. They also come with a protective case and a cleaning tool.
Bottom line: These are a step above the Denon’s in performance, not as comfortable, and built much better. If you want a professional set of ear buds and you’ve got a hundred bucks, these are a good choice.
3. Ultimate Ears Super.fi 3 Studio: These are the entry level “Super.fi” ear buds that Ultimate Ears make. They have other lines such as the Triple.fi, Metro.fi, and custom. These ear buds are my personal favorite. Although these aren’t as bass laden as the Denon and Shure buds; they are, without a doubt, the better of the three. The sound produced is even and crystal clear across all levels. It’s like you can hear the instruments breathing. I thought I was hearing music until I heard these. If it’s in the song you’ll hear it. If you don’t like a flat sound and prefer more Bass, once again the ipod EQ, or whatever your player, can probably achieve the sound you seek with Bass Booster. The smile curve on a typical 7 – 9 band EQ typically gets pretty good results as well.
These ear buds also come with a fit kit providing silicon tips of varying sizes. Once you achieve a good fit, they are rather comfortable. Still, not like the Denons though. These, like the Shures, are also worn over-the ear. The fit is secure and the seal is great providing great noise isolation bringing music through perfectly.
The construction/quality of these ear buds is great overall. The fact that you can detach the cable from the ear pieces and purchase replacements is a great plus. The cables are rather thick and don’t tangle. The problem is the cable is rather short. Though it is okay for me at 5’ 10”, this may be a problem for a taller person. The other problem is there is a stiff wire type material about 2-and-a-half inches long inside the cable coming out of the ear buds to rap over the ears. This is to achieve a better fit by having the cable form the shape around the contour of the ear. My problem is, it appears that where the wire ends and the normal cable starts inside the insulation, there could be some abnormal breaking in the rubber/plastic after some time of wear and tear. That’s just a possibility.
Overall, these are the best choice at one hundred bucks and I highly recommend these ear buds if you have it to spend. You won’t be disappointed.
work fine. last long time.

I've had these super.fi3s for almost year now and use them in lots of different environments - home, hiking, driving, flying. I've had no problems with them at all and I'm pretty hard on my equipment. My ear canals are very small but the smallest cushions work just fine. I couldn't believe the crispness and clarity of the mids and highs with these, incredible! I think they're a little weak on the bass but I'm not into heavy thumping anyway so they're a good match for me.
Love These

Maybe it's because these are my first pair of noise reducing monitors, but I was amazed at the sound quality. There's just so much more music IN the music that I listen to all the time. They are surprisingly comfortable. I just followed the video and had no trouble with proper insertion. At first I plugged them into my laptop and slowly cranked up the volume to immersion, but not painful level. Pleased with the result, I plugged them into one of my mp3 players. Unfortunately, I had forgotten to adjust the volume first, and could not rip those things out of my ears fast enough. I'm now using 1/3 to 1/2 the volume I did previously. The sound is rich and full and the isolation from outside noise is very good.
The packaging is nice - metal case, spare ear tips, etc.
I haven't tried them during strenuous activity yet, but given the fit, I'm confident they'll be fine.
All in all, good value - especially at the price here! Delivery time was very fast too.
Great Earphones for the Money

I was looking for an upgraded set of earphones since I travel a lot and I really didn't like the stock earphones that come with the iPods. Because the fit was poor, I found myself having to crank up the volume to drown out the aircraft engine, other conversations and snoring passengers. Not what I was hoping for.
After doing a lot of research, I bought a pair of the Super.Fi 3's since I thought they were rated well, have a very low return rate and came at a price that allowed me to see if these earphones were worth the hype. And I'm happy to report that yes they are! They sound great, block out almost all surrounding noise and I can keep my iPod's volume down now and enjoy my music without going deaf.
I was originally looking at the Super.Fi 5's and the better Shure earphones, but since I was unfamiliar with these higher end earphones, I decided not to sink several hundred on a product I had no personal experience with. Now, if I upgrade it will be just to see how good the dual or triple driver earphones can be. I figure that if the Super.Fi 3's sound this good, then the higher-end sets must be like ear candy.
If you're just looking for a comfortable set of earphones at a decent price, I can assure you that the Super.Fi 3's will really fit the bill. In fact, I just bought another pair as a Christmas present since I enjoy mine so much.
Bottom line, if you feel like dropping the $$$ for the higher end models, I'm sure you won't be disappointed, but don't feel like it's necessary to spend the big money if you can get a very good solution for under $100.

I've been buying, testing, reviewing alot of professional high-end earphones such as Shure, UE, Harman, Altec Lansing and Creative. Among them all, i found that E2C from Shure and this UE 3 were the best choice for people who want to isolate themselves to the world outside for best budgets.
However, here is my general comments, Shure give you clearer sound in noisy evironment, but UE ( Super.fi 3 ) give you better bass for your rock / kind of dancing music, Altec Lansing the new generations of Earbuds is quite similar to UE because if you read carefully , you will see that it use technology from UE, about creative earbuds , it's okay but you will soon find it is irritating with the wind sound.
Good luck with your choice

Out of the box these were great, I noticed things from my music that I had never heard before and they were very comfortable once I found the right tips.
The only problem i had is that my ipod creates a surprising amount of static and these isolating earphones highlight that problem, not their fault, luckily, I found that by using the included attenuator, the noise was eliminated and I still had plenty of volume range

Low-grade upgrade...

I bought those after my mini got stolen with the Er6i attached to them. Since I had just bought a brand new 1st gen black Nano, I wanted earphones that would match its color, and the Super.fi 3 were in my price range at the time.
Since them I have tried the Shure E3 and Westone UM1 as well. Although the sound of the Super.fi 3 is good (comparable to Er6i and UM1), with standard bass and great vocals, its highs are terrible compared to the UM1 and E3. Comfort wise, they were the LEAST comfortable of all 4 I have tried, with UM1 being in first position.
The build quality is also very low. Although cables can be changed at will, I had to change mine twice in 6 months. The UM1 has an INCREDIBLE design for the cable behind the ear positioning. The Super.fi 3 just stick out of your ear, whereas the UM1 fit comfortably within the ear. Finally, I had the casing pop just a little before the year mark... very low build quality, even my more fragile Er6i were tougher.
Finally, the Super.fi 3 are awkward when trying to sleep (if you fall asleep with those on and lay on your side it will hurt a LOT). They don't hold in as well when working out, and their general comfort, as mentioned already, is the worse I have seen between the Er6i, E3 and UM1.
A big letdown, I would definitely get the UM1 over these any day. I regret having bought those.

I just got these today and even though the info said they may need some break in time, they are great
my only complaint is the slight fuzziness I hear when I am not playing anything but when I use the attenuator it disappears completely (maybe that will go away with break in)
though the "item includes" thing does not say it, this product includes
an attenuator (to lower high volume sources)
and the metal ue case

I wanted something that would make my earbuds sound like my car.
I got it. I was warned that until I got used to wearing them, they may not be in right and sound tinny. First try out of the box I had them in correctly. Sound is full & rich. I cannot hear a damned thing outside the headset, seal is so good.
I used the volume limiter on my ipod, as turning these up to 15% of what it can play normally is PLENTY loud, anything higher than 20% causes my ears to ring (which we know is bad.) With the stock ear buds, I would have it at around 70%.
Great product, and great service from earphonesolutions.
Decent Headphone

I bought these January of 2006 and use them on average 4 days a week. After a year and three months of use, the plastic part of the earpiece has broken in two, but this is covered in the warranty, and they will be replaced for free. Thse headphones have a very good frequency range, but when first using them, make sure you try all the ear tips to see which fits best, I had a problem with that for a little while until I tried the double-flanged tip. For those complaining about the bass response: these are not made for bass, they are made for delivering the music as it is, not changing it.
These are a very good headphone for the price, though I would consider looking at Etymotics ER-6i and Shure E3's before purchasing these.
The fit of these can also be a bit of a problem some times. The phones wrap around your ear, and when they are put away the fit usually becomes unadjusted, making the user need to tweak them whenever taking them out.
ANYWAY, I would recommend these headphones to a person looking for decent sound at a very reasonable price.

the IPOD is to blame for the poor base response. I would have given them four stars, but due to the lack of bass when using the ipod I gave them 3
When i use them w/ my portable md they sound much better
They sound nice, and to upgrade to a better ear bud is so expensive that it's almost not worth. if you want base, ear buds are just not the right headphones to use.

Lovely sound, fine fit out of the box, hard to criticise. Just read the insertion instructions and be precise...don't just jam them in. My home 'phones are Grado S-225s. The Grados are $180 and rest on the ear. The 3s are more immediate due to their placement in the ear and sound a little smoother vs the precision of the Grados, but still, excellent detail out of the 3s. I don't know what people are talking about with a lack of bass. Guess they are looking for attenuated bass, since I found no lack, but no emphasis either. Using the recommended method of insertion resulted in a complete seal. I'm not usually so easy to please. I have a 10k home system with class a tubes throughout, and the legendary Near 50 mk II speakers made personally for me by Bill, the founder, himself. I'm a musician who generates his own acoustic music, so perhaps others who are more critical should get out more and listen. This is what music sounds like.

These are fantastic "value" earphones. No, they are just a bit below the Shure 3's but for the price, the sound can not be beat! They take about a week to really get use to and you should try the different ear pieces to see which ones are most comfortable. Once you get a good seal, these ear phones produce very range between lows and hi's.
Good entry level high-end earphones but not as good as the Shure SCL2 and Sennheiser CX-400-II. The fit and comfort are not as good as the competition.
Good for a first in-ear earphones and an affordable solution in the in-ear universe but not as good as the Shure SCL2.
