Good with One Exception
By craig keene on April 21, 2009

comfort is good. packaging and accessories is good. sound: the highs are tremendous. the bass, however, is almost non-existent. that is my major disappointment. i would recommend these to others with only the one gripe.
Great except bass

The general sound quality is excellent and the earphones are great value for money. There is only one clear drawback and that is a distinct lack of bass. Hence, if you listen to alot of rap and hip-hop then these aren't the earphones for you. Otherwise, I would highly recommend them for other music types.
Low-grade upgrade...

I bought those after my mini got stolen with the Er6i attached to them. Since I had just bought a brand new 1st gen black Nano, I wanted earphones that would match its color, and the Super.fi 3 were in my price range at the time.
Since them I have tried the Shure E3 and Westone UM1 as well. Although the sound of the Super.fi 3 is good (comparable to Er6i and UM1), with standard bass and great vocals, its highs are terrible compared to the UM1 and E3. Comfort wise, they were the LEAST comfortable of all 4 I have tried, with UM1 being in first position.
The build quality is also very low. Although cables can be changed at will, I had to change mine twice in 6 months. The UM1 has an INCREDIBLE design for the cable behind the ear positioning. The Super.fi 3 just stick out of your ear, whereas the UM1 fit comfortably within the ear. Finally, I had the casing pop just a little before the year mark... very low build quality, even my more fragile Er6i were tougher.
Finally, the Super.fi 3 are awkward when trying to sleep (if you fall asleep with those on and lay on your side it will hurt a LOT). They don't hold in as well when working out, and their general comfort, as mentioned already, is the worse I have seen between the Er6i, E3 and UM1.
A big letdown, I would definitely get the UM1 over these any day. I regret having bought those.

the IPOD is to blame for the poor base response. I would have given them four stars, but due to the lack of bass when using the ipod I gave them 3
When i use them w/ my portable md they sound much better
They sound nice, and to upgrade to a better ear bud is so expensive that it's almost not worth. if you want base, ear buds are just not the right headphones to use.
