For what are incredible headphones, these replacement cables have, over time, become more and more inferior to the original cables provided. I have had my Ultimate Ears headphones since 2007. The original cables lasted 1 year, which is not bad considering I always use them. Each set after the original seems to last less time. I have had them last anywhere between 1 week and 3 months. The only reason i have kept buying them is that I really do love the headphones. Today, my cable simply stopped working, no tell-tale signs of breakage like loosing a signal in one channel, just failed. This is the second time that this has happened. To alleviate the ridiculous shipping and overpriced retail value of these cables, I bought 4 at once. I am on my last set and will be looking for a new set of headphones soon. Unless, they fix this problem, don't buy Ultimate Ears headphones. I can only imagine how quickly the cables go out on the non-replacable models!
Pros:
Nothing
Cons:
Everything
Merchant Response:
Thanks for the informative review. That's why we have at times suggested the Westone, Shure, Sennheiser and other brands that do not have replaceable cables since those fail at a much lower rate.

"IMPROVEMENT" is merely cosmetic

I have been through a number of UE super.fi.3 cables over the past few years.
The most recent "improvements" on the cable provide for a better looking and better-feeling wire with less tangles and less rigidity.
However my cables were broken within exactly two months of regular (not at all intense) use.
Very disappointing in terms of durability.
It seems this product needs to be remade again, unless perhaps my cord was defective.
Pros:
Less tangling, Softer and less rigid, straight connector.
