poor durability replacement cables
By zeram1 from SF, CA on January 30, 2011

As the previous reviewer, I purchased 4 cables, to last me for "years"...unfortunately, each one lasted from 1 week to perhaps 2 months (max). I'll never buy these again. Going to buy a product that the manufacturer stands behind (i.e. Shure)

DURABILITY!!!Beware of Ultimate Ears Products
By hayden from denver on September 8, 2010

I have had to have my Super Fi 3's replaced 3x times and its about to be the 4th after I get off hold with them. The headphones sound great but are very finnicky and the durability leaves something to be desired. The problem, I believe, lies with the connection between the audio cord and the earbuds. The two tiny prongs coming out of the ear buds and two tiny receptors for each side are very prone to malfunction. Also, UE just changed their warranty policy on ALL of their products to a LIMITED 1 Year Warranty. Yes, even their custom fit $1500+ earphones have a ONE YEAR warranty. Weak Sauce.

durability is worse than $20 headphonesShould Be 0 Stars!

For what are incredible headphones, these replacement cables have, over time, become more and more inferior to the original cables provided. I have had my Ultimate Ears headphones since 2007. The original cables lasted 1 year, which is not bad considering I always use them. Each set after the original seems to last less time. I have had them last anywhere between 1 week and 3 months. The only reason i have kept buying them is that I really do love the headphones. Today, my cable simply stopped working, no tell-tale signs of breakage like loosing a signal in one channel, just failed. This is the second time that this has happened. To alleviate the ridiculous shipping and overpriced retail value of these cables, I bought 4 at once. I am on my last set and will be looking for a new set of headphones soon. Unless, they fix this problem, don't buy Ultimate Ears headphones. I can only imagine how quickly the cables go out on the non-replacable models!

Thanks for the informative review. That's why we have at times suggested the Westone, Shure, Sennheiser and other brands that do not have replaceable cables since those fail at a much lower rate.2 months and they are broken

very poor durability at connector"IMPROVEMENT" is merely cosmetic
By Tim from St. John's, NL on June 13, 2009

I have been through a number of UE super.fi.3 cables over the past few years.
The most recent "improvements" on the cable provide for a better looking and better-feeling wire with less tangles and less rigidity.
However my cables were broken within exactly two months of regular (not at all intense) use.
Very disappointing in terms of durability.
It seems this product needs to be remade again, unless perhaps my cord was defective.
Pros:
Less tangling, Softer and less rigid, straight connector.Cons:
BROKEN in two months. Terrible durability.
