Looking for Triple.Fi? We suggest the Westone UM2, Westone 3, Shure SE530-PTH and SE420. All these other models offer better fit, comfort, build and sound quality with a 2 Year Warranty instead of only 1 year with the Triple.fi.

Ultimate Ears triple.fi 10 Pro Metallic Blue Earphones

The Triple.fi is no longer available.

We recommend instead: These models are much more comfortable with a very low profile fit. UM2 has a more balanced sound and stronger bass, while the SE530-PTH is slightly brighter with more detail in the mids. The Triple.fi in comparison is about the brightest sound presentation with over extended highs that might annoy and cause fatigue to most listeners but it will satisfy "high frequency craving" listeners. Unfortunately the replaceable cables make them prone to fail more often than the earphones that do not have replaceable cables. End of last year, UE changed their warranty from 2 years to 1 year.

Both UM2 (which is Made in USA) and SE530-PTH have a 2-Year Warranty and the Triple.Fi only comes with a 1 Year Warranty.

Sound:
    Bass: GOOD
    Mids: VERY GOOD
    Highs: Over-extended

Marvelous

Comments:

This is a lot of money to spend on earphones, even if they are IEMs.

However, these are ABSOLUTELY worth the price.

I am an audiophile who spends most of his time listening to his iPod, through generally pretty good headphones (Shures before this). But listening through this is, honestly, like listening to a song for the first time.

Also, marvelous sound isolation. You really get sucked into the music.

One thing that gets major props is that these are the only in-ear headphones I have ever tried that maintain a sense of a soundscape. It doesn't sound the music is trapped in your head, it sounds like it surrounds you.

I also highly recommend buying extra foam tips, as they are the most comfortable tips to wear, as well as the best for sound isolation.

There was also, in my case, no discomfort. No, none at all.
A little getting used to, to get the seal to stick, but after a couple of days, they stayed perfectly.

Also, they are great for listening back to stuff you have recorded. Really helps you identify better ways to mix/master in the studio.

I puchased the UE TriplePro10 as a benchmark for other earphones. Nothing else comes close. They put you on stage in the center of the action.

Thanks to EarphoneSolutions for the excellent service. We will be back....
Good Monitors

Comments:

I bought this to use as monitors for my guitar. They are great monitors although a little twingy or in more technical terms the are tremendous when it comes to highs. I had to literally adjust my EQ and turn up the mids and lows. They do sound fantastic though. Best monitors I have heard and I've had a bunch. If you are looking for something with a lot of low kick these are not for you. The highs are so good I almost heard my ears having them up too loud.
Very Good !

Superfast shipping, superfast responding to my "many" questions.. They helped to me choose.

Great choose especially treble lovers.. Crips and clean..
Mid's are a little back but details are very good.. Very very deep and detailed bass, and great soundstage..

Thanks..
Great Sound

I have owned these for about 6 months now and as good as they were right out of the box, they are even better over time. I own a pair of HD650's and sometimes I choose to listen to these over to 650's! They are that good, the highs and mids are very clear and the bass is super tight. I have really fallen in love with these earphones, and so will you. Great Product.
Very good

The Ultimate Ears earphones are very good. Some may argue that Shure has the top of the line earphones, and they may be right. However, when I purchased some Shure headphones previously, the wire lacked durability and ruggedness. It began to split near the headphone jack and also around each earphone (where it curved around my ear). This is a common complaint against Shure earphones. To my dismay, I had to send the headphones back for a new pair. Unfortunately, after the warranty expires, I'm unable to purchase replacement wires for my Shures earphones. However, I'm able to purchase detachable wires for my Ultimate Ears earphones to help ensure their longevity. I am not made of money, and these are very expensive headphones. Thus, it is very important to me that they last me a long time. If you take price, sound, and durability into consideration, then I believe that these headphones provide the most bang for your buck!!!
Amazing

I'm going to keep this short and sweet.

These headphones are worth every penny. They isolate sound completely, even on a noisy bus, with my MP3 Player up only at half volume.

The soundstaging is AMAZING, and I can place and layer each instrument at all times.

They're super comfortable, and I hear all the highs and lows of each one of my songs.

I was worried if the pricetag was a bit much. But honestly, if you're thinking in the 200-300 dollar range, save the extra 100 and buy these puppies, you will NOT regret it. :)

Great earphones. I purchased the triple fi's to replace my etymotic er4p's and so far so good. The triple-fi's sound very similar with a tad more forwardness in the treble, but pack more punch in the bottom end than the er4p's.

Purchased these after trying to go the customs path. Please disregard peoples post about fig and bad quality. These are top notch. Also the cable can be replaced. I have heard many people have fit problems, but these work pretty well for me. I am very happy. Very clear sound and deep bass. Simply.... Beautiful

They sound as good as a Bose head phone. But I have a problem with the plug in jack. You see the jack piece at the end of the jack broke off and it is now lodged in my ipod. I am having difficulty getting that piece out of the ipod, because I do not have anything small enough to get it out. I have never seen this happen before in other products with this type of jack. So for $346.95 including tax, I think they really did not function as I had hoped.
In my opinion better than sures top of the line

Unfortunately I only had the pleasure of owning these headphones for a couple of months before they were lost with my ipod in a freak snowboarding accident. I had never thought about spending more than a few bucks on earphones until I listened to the ultimates in a specialty store, the difference is staggering. Well anyways I lost the headphones and was so impressed I wanted to buy them again but was sidetracked when I saw and add for the shures sp530 whatever they are the 550 dollar ones, so they arrived today and I really can't tell the difference between my iphones and these shure phones well I can but you know what I mean these were 500!!!!! go with the ultimate ears try them out somewhere though you will not be disappointed!
Mini review from beyond!

Comments:

I would like to start to say, thank you UE and Earphone Solutions for the fast shipping and these marvels of technology. I just received my Triple.Fi. First impressions were : Why in heaven these monitors sound so bass heavy, veiled and rolled off treble?. I left it playing and went to drink my soup.

After few hours, I came back and played some "Juan Luis Guerra" songs from my DAC / Amp. To my surprise, it sounded so much better and different. It took some time to train my ears to listen and appreciate this kind of fidelity. Nothing like this I ever heard before. Do you remember the last time you went to a Disco club?. These monitors remind me when I was in front of these two enormous loudspeakers, paying attention to the low frequencies. One drink in my hands and dancing with one of my two girlfriends, at the same Disco club!!!. Je, je.

Bass:
Who said bass doesn't go low?. First thing you notice is the quality low frequencies these earphones reproduce. More bass than these, is insane and would overlap other frequencies. Period. I hear more low frequencies than my HD600. Just imagine!.

Mids:
Mid frequencies are perfect. It resembles my HD600 but with more accurate frequency reproduction. You listen mid frequencies clearly, at low volumes. This accurate.

Highs:
Remember?, I was complaining about it. Well, My ears got trained and now treble is there. I hear sounds that I never heard before from the same songs. Wow!. It just take time to realize you are in front of a different animal.

Design:
It took me 5 minutes to appreciate perfection and excellent design applied . Congrats to the engineers of this design. Think about this:

1) These are the only monitors that can be out of your ears in 1 second.
2) Due to the perfect design, balance of sound is perfect
3) Stability. These babies stay in your ears no matter what happens around you.
4) Excellent noise canceling ratio.
5) Replaceable cable. Do you realize how many returns and different issues are due to cables?. It gives me a peace of mind, to know that if something happens to my Triple.fi's cables, I can just order a replacement. Uff. Returns at UE should be really low. This was the first reason I went in the UE direction. Big plus guys!!
6) Balanced reproduction of all frequencies, due to their triple driver technology.

Conclusion:

Excellent product, with the fullest sound you ever heard.

Many thanks for taking the time to read my first experience with the UE Triple.Fi.

As I like all that you have stated here I have to wonder if you beat your earphones to death :) Why have you had to buy so many different ones? If i spend 200+ dollars I'd like to think I wont be doing this again for a long while :)

I am trying hard to find the right pair of phones. Currently I have the Shure SE310's and previously Bose On-Ear. Im taking advantage of Best Buys' return policies for trial.
Astoundingly excellent earphones selling by superbly-run earphonesolution.com

If you're on this review page, then it means you're very likely still deciding, researching, doing your homework before spend your hard-earned money on this earphones things.
And if you're willing or amost willing to spend this kind of money on earphones, then it means you are very serious about your music, you must love listening to your music very much and you want the best sound quality and other good qualities of a pair of earphones that you can possible afford.

Then, with all honesty in my bones, I would tell you that you will not regret of buying it.......I left couple of lengthy reviews at Amazon.com of Triple.fi and Super.fi 5Pro under the same name - Peter T.
I don't want to take up data-storage space here at earphonesolution.com. But make sure that you come back and buy from this good people. Amazon.com doesn't need our money, they already make millions and millions of dollars, let's give your business to this wonderfully-run company.

I am not going into comparing!!! I think all products, earphones includeed, have their own characteristics, one company might concerntrate on certain aspect(s), others might emphasize on other areas. Besides, to enjoy the variety of things in life offering to you, is to not compare one to the others.

Shure has good things I enjoy that the other two don't, Westone has certain things I enjoy that the other don't, and UE has many that I enjoy that the other two lack. That's how you enjoy the beauty and pleasure of the great varieties of all things in this life that come in your path.

But you must pay a big heed all you can to a product before you give them your hard-earned money, To see that whether or not the product you are buying is reliable, good quality worthy of the price they're asking for, and whether or not, on top of all of that mention above, they have a good customer service or good warrantee policy intact, and how they actually conduct their policy. Are they just talk, but not the walk, or are they talk the talk, and walk the walk........

Well, UE is the company that producing a very good and reliable product. They learned and corrected their flaws, and keep strengthen themselves in every areas possible. They have improved tremendously over this short time period, considering how young of company they are, yet be able to make this kind of excellent products.

Their customer service is the best, I mean "The Best"!, not Shure nor Westone can match with them over this "customer service" area. Their warrantee is as good and generous as Shure, but they somehow conduct and execute it better and faster (much faster) than Shure.

Another word - they talk the talk, walk the walk. and so far their pricing is the least expensive comparing the others, in this case, the adage "you get what you pay for" can't be applicable here.

And please trust me - if you choose to buy anything here at earphonesolution.com, it will even make the whole experience of acquiring the "high-end" earphones much more pleasant and memorable. And when you put those earphones in your ears and crank up your music, all you will have is a big smile on your face and you will thank everything and everyone imaginable for you to have such a wonderful experience.
And you will become like me, a loyal customer to UE, and earphonesolution.com.

If you are first time here at ES.com, or never bought anything from them before, let me assure you wth no holding-back on my part to say that you are discovering a gold mine! These people run one of best, top-notch operation, their prices are the best (once in a long while, it takes a giant company like Amazon.com beat them on the price, but just for a short while), and they are the most decent, ethical and generous business-practiced company I've ever dealt with. We all know that those adjectives I use to describle ES.com are the rarity nowsday in this modern business world we live in.

I've bougt 2 pairs of Westone, 3 different Shures, and 4 UE. If a company isn't good in anyways or if you're not satisfied with them in anyways, noone (me included) will not ever come back again, let alone giving them repeated business.

Thanks for reading, enjoy your earphones, you work hard, you deserve them and happy listening, folks!!!!!!!
only topped by shure se530
By jason on August 21, 2007

Comments:

i own these and i also own the se530 among others these earphones sound superb, they excell in the highs but are still not as clear as the etymotic er4's in the highs, mids are good but only topped by the se530 and its the same case with bass, its very good but beaten by the se530 which has more punch and impact in the lows, this added with improved comfort and design puts the shures at the top for now but as a second place to that these are amazing and nothing as of now comes close below this price
good,not the best
By jason on July 11, 2007

Comments:

i think these are good, and i do like them alot, but for me ill still take the shure se530 over these, they sound as good as each other, seriously you would have to be a serious professional to even tell the very slightest of differences in sound,in that i mean what is better, they both do sound different, but no better or worse, but what decides it for mr is the fit and comfort, its important you choose the se530 and not the e500 because its a newer model with better sleeves.meaning better fit, feel and isolation, and the se530 sit flush against your head and dont stick out a mile, dont get me wrong these are great and cheaper but the shures are nicer looking, more comfortable arguably better built and come with better accessories, arguably not as posh as earphones but they are accessories, anyway they both good, shures have it for me,until westone comes back to town, heck that may be a flop tho have you lot seen the westone, not pretty, all the best in choosing, shures all the way
Extremely Dynamic and Transparent! Top Earphones!
By Matt on March 13, 2007

Comments:

I recently wrote a review on here about the super fi. 5 pro which I bought a few months ago. The super fi's are excellent earphones and I am very happy with them. They are about on par with the highly respected Etymotic ER-4's. Which of the 2 is better would depend on taste. Anyways, about a month ago, I couldn't resist and I just had to buy the triple fi's. Everyone was coming out with triple-driver earphones and I always wanted to take a listen off either these or the e500, so I said what the heck, lets go for it. When I first listened to these earphones, the thing that most amazed me was tightness of bass, detail, and especially the transparency. Bass is very dynamic, detail even surpasses the ER4-S(not P) earphones, and transparency is amazing without losing any fullness of overall sound. If you are going to get earphones to listen to out of an Ipod, and you are considering these, go for the super fi's. The super fi 5 pro is a better value if your using a portable player. If you have a portable amplifier, or plan on listening to earphones at home, get these. When connected to a good amplifier and home-based cd player, they walk all over the super fi's and the Etymotics aswell. These are the absolute top dynamic earphones in my book.
Best Earphones

Ok, after a slight delay from UE, I finally received the Triple.fi 10s. I would say that these are the best IEMs I have ever owned.

Source: iRiver iHP-140 and H10 6GB - Please note that the sound was modified by changing the EQ settings on both players.

Files: Various (trance/dance, alternative) ripped from CD, lame 3.96, VBR

Previously owned IEM's: Sony EX71SL ($50), Etymotic ERP4 (at the time, $219), Shure E3C (free trial), UE Super.fi 3 Black (gift), UE Super.fi 5 Pro Clear ($250).

Sony: Ok, these had good base. But when you listen at a higher volume, the base distorts. That's ok though, because the only time I have them super loud is when I'm using in the subway. These eventually broke (intermittent sound in one ear), thus starting my search for better IEMs.

ERP4: At the time, compared to the Sony's, these were the best. They were great with the iHP-140 because the sound quality from the iRiver (specially the bass boost) was awesome. To me, the base was not an issue, and the high's were the best. For X-Mas, I received the iRiver H10 6GB. When I plugged the ERP4's, I was very disappointed. The high's were still there, but it's like the grinch stole my bass. It doesn't matter how high I turn up the base on the EQ, it was really unbearable. Thus I started looking for another headphone, strickly for use with the H10s, because I could see me using that more, specially in the gym.

E3C: Through some research, I came accross the Shure Earphones. At the time, Shure was offering a 30-day trial, so I took them up on it. I was not impressed. The base was slightly better than the ERP4, but the mids were very pitchy. It's like the music was constantly nagging at me - very annoying to say the least. So this earphone was promptly returned.

Super.fi 3: I actually listened to this at Guitar Center. They had a floor model that I could try out. These were comparable to the E3Cs, but with much more bearable mids, although still not bassy enough for me. I ended up getting this as a X-Mas grab-bag gift. These were traded in (see Super.fi Pro 5).

Super.fi Pro 5: These were also at Guitar Center, but not as a floor model. I decided to take a risk and had the salesperson open it. OMG - These totally blew me away. The bass on the H10 was now present like never before. The only thing I had a gripe on, was that the high's were not as good as the ERP4's. But with the 100x improvement in bass, I over looked that. So needless to say, I was way bummed when these broke (they had issues on the earphone housing cracking - a known defect). I was looking to return these, since they were still under warranty, but good thing I didn't. These were traded in when I found Earphone Solutions.

Triple.fi 10: Earphone Solutions was offering a trade-in program, and I decided to take them up on it. We all know about the delay issue, so I won't get into that. However, I finally received these yesterday. I was so eager to hear them and BOOYA, these did not disappoint. I did a side by side comparison with the triple-fi and the ERP4. Obviously, the bass was much better with the triple.fi. I was really pleasantly surprised to hear that the high's were much more defined as well, even better than the ERP4s. I thought the ERP4's had good highs. But with the triple-fis, I can actually hear different cymbals in some of my songs that I never noticed before hand. I flipped back to the ERP4's and finally noticed it when I really concentrated in trying to hear the different high's. This morning, I plugged these into the iRiver H10. I had a sense that I could "feel" the bass of the song, as well as the high's I craved, without the nagging mids - definately a perfect match. One thing though, be ready to re-rip your lower quality music, as you will be able to tell with the triple-fi's if files were ripped with crappy settings.

As for Earphone Solutions, I have to give them much props. They are all the way FIRST CLASS. They kept me informed about the status of my order, and explained why my order was being delayed.

That´s so awesome!!!
UM2 and the SE530-PTH are quite more comfortable than the Triple.Fi and sound quality is higher as well with the competition. Unfortunately UE changed their warranty from 2 years to 1 year and we are not fans of the the UE replaceable cables. The SE530-PTH outputs slightly more detail in the mid range and has a more pleasant presentation; the Triple.Fi outputs an over extended high that might annoy and cause fatigue to most listeners. The UM2 has stronger bass than both SE530 and Triple.Fi. Overall the SE530-PTH is slightly brighter. The UM2 is slightly more balanced (flatter) than the SE530 and the Triple.Fi. The UM2 sells for less but both the Triple.Fi and SE530PTH are triple drivers. The SE530-PTH includes the PTH (push-to-hear) accessory and it comes with a 2 Year Warranty. UM2 and Triple.Fi do not include the PTH (you can purchase it for $59) but the UM2 comes with a 2 Year Warranty and the Triple.Fi with a 1 Year Warranty. Fit and comfort are very similar between the UM2 and the SE530-PTH but most customers will find the Triple.Fi quite bulky which is designed to stick out of the ear.
