Let’s face it, if you’re considering spending around 500 bucks on a pair of earphones you’re someone who’s obsessive about their music. You’re the hard to please type not easily impressed by anything less than seriously impressive. Well, be assured that these tiny miracles of science are indeed impressive, seriously.

The most notable feature of the Shure SE530s is their ability to convey a multi-layered sound stage with absolute precision. Music you’ve heard over and over again takes on new life with an incredible sense of clarity that is always lucid and rich and never confused or entangled no matter what you throw at them. Where they really shine, though, is with lossless or uncompressed digital recordings or mp3s with a high compression rate. With recordings of this quality, the ‘530s are adept at producing an extraordinary dynamic range with a sense of magnificence that you didn’t know your ears were capable of decoding. For example, the expertly mastered “Teardrop” by Massive Attack was delivered with insanely crisp and clear highs, a deep, solid bass and with the placement of Liz Fraser’s spine-chilling vocals with meticulous precision. My much older reference track, “Golden Brown” by The Stranglers, was delivered with an equally exciting presentation whilst remaining true to the fidelity of the original recording.

Sparknotes.com describes an epiphany as “a sudden, powerful, and often spiritual or life changing realization that a character experiences in an otherwise ordinary moment.” That’s what happened to me when I listened to The Beloved’s “The Sun Rising” on my ‘530s.

For those new to “shove-right-into-the-ear-canal” type earphones the ‘530s may take a few goes at experimenting with the different types and sizes of sleeves supplied in order to achieve the perfect fit necessary for them to perform (no seal = no bass). But once you’ve found your “sweet-spot” you might just find yourself ignoring everybody you know for the foreseeable future or taking your dog out for a walk several hours a day more than he’s used to.

"I have been a music performer for over 20 years and when it comes to sound quality I consider myself VERY hard to please and extremely picky. I have been searching for a good pair of in ear earphones for some time now... I own the Shure e4c’s, Bose Tri-point IE’s, and the Ultimate Ears Super Fi.5 Pro’s, and these are BY FAR the best earphones I have ever used. The sound quality is incredible.. crisp highs but never harsh, excellent mids but not overpowering, and smooth, rich bass that is never distorted or muddy. Do not however make the mistake of thinking these headphones are bass-shy (like many of the Shure’s are known for).. Put on a little Tribe Called Quest or Outkast and these things will rock your skull!! Kudos to the guys at EarphonesSolutions.com in constructing such and informative and accessible site and making the purchase process seamless and extremely pleasant. Review of the Shure SE530 headphones by Justin

The new Shure SE530-PTH with triple driver comes in first place for sound and comfort. The SE530-PTH includes the PTH (push-to-hear) accessory. The major difference between the Triple.Fi, UM2 and the SE530-PTH will be personal taste. The SE530-PTH outputs slightly more detail in the mid range; the Triple.Fi outputs the most detail on the high frequency range (sometimes too much) while the UM2 has stronger bass than both SE530 and Triple.Fi. Overall the SE530-PTH is slightly brighter. The UM2 is slightly more balanced (flatter) than the SE530 and the Triple.Fi. The UM2 sells for less but both the Triple.Fi and SE530PTH are triple drivers. The SE530-PTH includes the PTH (push-to-hear) accessory and it comes with a 2 Year Warranty while the Triple.Fi and UM2 do not include the PTH (you can purchase it for $59) but come with a 2 Year Warranty as well. Fit and comfort are very similar between the UM2 and the SE530-PTH and not so great with the Triple.Fi for those customers that want a flush fit.

Those who can afford will experience the greatest detail on mids and highs. If that is what your music needs (or if that is what you like best) the SE530 will deliver! Also excellent choice for isolation and comfort. Great for working out and flying first class :)!
