And unlike bulky headphones utilizing active noise cancellation technology, no artifacts are introduced into your listening experience. The Shure SCL2 Sound isolating earphones are also much smaller and don't require batteries (passive).
SCL2 Speaker Type: Dynamic MicroDrivers
The Shure SCL2's speakers are constructed with studio-grade components, producing outstanding audio clarity that allows you to hear your music like never before.
Shure SCL2 Personal Fit Kit
Because every ear is different, SCL2 Earphones come with three pairs (small, medium, large) of disposable Foam Sleeves, and three pairs (small, medium, large) of Flex Sleeves to ensure the ideal personalized fit.

Wonderful!
By Chris from PA on March 10, 2010
My first exprience with these earphones. So far I am loving them. For those that are complaining of no bass and tinny sound, you have to make sure they are in your ear canal far enough to make a seal....then you will be hearing what they are capable of. So much better than the $30-40 Sony's,etc. that I was previously using..
I would recommend this item to a friend.
great sound for small ears
By Martin from merano italy on December 22, 2009
This is my third pair of shure in-earphones i have a problem with any other kind of earphones, they would not stay in. Finally I found the shure-ones wich fit perfectly.
Pros:
Great fit. Great sound. Nearly total noise isolation
Cons:
After some hour the ear hurts a bit but nobody should hear music for hours.
Fantastic - Shure SCL2-K Black Earphones
By Angelo from Atlanta, GA on November 24, 2009
Excellent replacement pair of earphones for the gym. Had the EC2 in the past. Customer service was excellent in giving personalized reviews of products and worked with me to get me what I wanted. Best place on the web to buy earphones - and an authorized dealer to boot!
Pros:
Shorter cable than White version- had those and the extra 6+ inches was an issue in cable management; great sound, great fit
Cons:
Hate that they don't work on my 1st generation iPhone - unless I have an adapter BUT Shure makes a comparable product for that.
I would recommend this item to a friend.
Shure SCL2 great for price
By Oscar Jackson Rose from UK on November 2, 2009
I have owned a pair of shure SCL2 earphones for about four months now i do my own music recording and wanted something i could use for my ipod and also my home recorder got the shure e2c (SCL2) because they were very reasonable price wise , after playing a good few hours of different types of music they came into their own the clarity and levels of the music is fantastic they are very robust light and easy to put away because of the compact hard case that comes with them you also get a good selection of ear pieces foam and also rubber soft and medium , when i use them with my recorder the sound is just amazing i can hear the detail on everything from guitar to drums some people say they lack bass but if you play bass songs on them for a while they adapt and the bass does grow i would highly recommend these to anyone who wants to know what the music they play on their ipod is really supposed to sound like , basically you will not find anything this good especially for the price range so for anyone thinking of buying a pair don't think about it do it you will never leave home without them.
I would recommend this item to a friend.
just okay
By Bob from North Carolina on July 8, 2009
Really hadn't had too much time to adjust phones and determine which plug best suits my ear canal. Bass is non-existent, but will continue to spend time hopefully working the "kinks" out.
Pros:
cables are much better quality than stock Apple ear buds
Cons:
Bass response

Overall Good Headphones
By Andrius on March 11, 2009
The cord is thicker then most other headphones, which is nice as it makes them feel sturdier. especially since my last pair of headphones eventually developed a tear in the cord. Sound quality is amazing, though you have to make sure you have them in right. If you jam them too far in your ear you lose some sound, and hurt your ear for that matter, but they have to be in enough to where they are basically snug in your ear.
Come with basically every type of earbud tip you could want. Personally use the medium rubber tips as I find the silicone too hard. The foam probably provide the best fit as they sort of form to your ear, however they aren't as easy to simply take in and out.
Only downside is they may not work for all ear types as I do have issues of them slowly sliding out if I don't get them in just right. Also, if you are a bass enthusiast, there are other headphones out there for the same price that provide better bass.
Great Ear buds
By Allen on February 10, 2009
Shure has spiked in price over the last couple years so I had to drop down the rating a bit. Rather I guess the story is that they have set minimum price levels for retailers. I have owned about 4 pairs of these scl-2s since I wear them out quickly. I am in the gym frequently 5 days a week and I think the sweat cause the wires to become brittle. However the first set I got was like 55 bucks, and had a two year warranty, I think I got them replaced twice in that time so count on them lasting about a year if you use them frequently. In addition to the gym, theyre always being used as I tavel around campus everyday so they do get a lot of abuse.
As for actual performance, they are a single driver that provides good low end IMO. I had some e4s, I think, that were like 300 dollars but had no low end. Granted they sounded really clear but I ended up returning them and just settled for the e2s since I knew I would beat them up. They sound so much better than stock ear buds and the sound isolation is great. If you are just thinking of upgrading from stock these are a great choice. To reiterate earphone solutions, fit is key to performance. They must be snug to hear the low end.
Speaking of earphone solutions. Extremely helpful website. Great service. Definitely recommend them to anyone who is interested in sound quality.
spikes in your ears
By kawpook on January 23, 2009
I hate them. After sitting on a plane for 2 hours with them in your ears I feel like someone stuclk spikes in my ears. Also, compared to full size headphones with active noise reduction they are total zeroes. bass is completely absent. Volume is adequate but non adjustable.
Wet the Foam First
By Henry on October 22, 2008
I have had several pair of these. They will satisfy your needs...for sure. Here is the trick with these. Many people have a problem with the fit. By accident, when I was at the gym, the foam got slightly wet. They finally fit perfectly. WET THE FOAM with a little spitfirst and they will fit better than any other earphones.
Must Fit Them Right
By Brian on May 29, 2008
Read the review by Matt, that was pretty much what I said in my review where I bought them. I use the medium black rubber. If they aren't fitter correctly you get very little bass so fit is the up most important thing you can do.
Once broke in and fitted correctly these are a major step above what comes with MP3 players.
Two reason I didn't give these a five star rating. I wish the cord was shorter and I'm six foot. I also wish the jack were straight rather than L shaped so it would go in my pocket easier.
Fit the Product
By Brian on April 17, 2008
First, plug them in and let your computer break them in by looping an MP3 overnite then the most important thing try the ear pieces until you a good fit, you'll know then that is by the bass. Lose ear pieces leads to little or NO bass.
Out of the package they will sound ugly, they NEED to be broke in before you use them. For me they provide an excellent seal, more so on keeping sound in yet still letting me loud noises outside. With my head resting against my wife's head and at too loud a volume for normal listening she could not hear anything.
X-treme Bass - Mono Sound!
By superman on August 30, 2007
Ok,
If you demand supreme bass from your music, these are ideal for you. But if you like to listen to the rest of the instruments and pick up on lyrics you never new about your fave. song, these are NOT for you. I purchased these and the Ultimate Ears Pro. Studio 3, both at the same price. The UE Pro fit light and comfortably, use less volume setting and most importantly they block outside noise very well. Very important, you must "break them in." I left my playing on my computer overnight and there is no need to use high volume.
Do your research before you buy. Obviously this is a hard task since there is no place where you can actually test them out.
Give them Time
By Matt on March 4, 2007
Sounded ugly when i first tried them on out of the box. After reading about it, i let my computer play music on them for about 24 hours and the sound loosened up, and the bass became outstanding. After lots of fitting with the different ear pieces, i settled on the medium foam ones. SO glad i picked these up.
Best headphones
By Bob on February 25, 2007
These are the best headphones for the price. the wires are sturdy, and the case keeps them from breaking. and all the different fittings are great
By John G on November 11, 2006
I purchased them for my IPOD. They sound tingy and have very little bass.
By Ruben on November 7, 2006
Good sound with the right fit. Takes awhile to get used to. Not good for sensitive ears. They can hurt. The right fit hurts my ears after a while. The comfortable fit doesn t good. The right earpiece is the foam, but troublesome putting and removing the earpiece. The wire has already cracked after 9 months exposing the wire. They do sound great though
By Rick on November 1, 2006
Tried them, didn't like them, gave them away and now I'm back to my POD phones which I believe sound better!
By nguyen van a on October 19, 2006
good!
By Keith H on June 10, 2006
I bought mine from another retailer because I had "rewards" certificates that allowed me to only pay $50 for them but I'm online looking for the new E500's. I was a little hesitant to spend that much but, being an a/v nut, I figured if they had the b*lls to ask that much for ear buds then maybe.......All I can say is that after a month of listening, I can't WAIT for the E500 to come out. Shure has my complete and total faith in an outstanding product. If they say the e2c is worth $100 I'm here to back that up. Even though I got these at a discount I'm glad I was introduced into this "world". It's a hard concept to grasp trying to figure out how something so small can put out such phenomenal sound but these things deliver. I will have absolutely no reservations at all forking over the $500 for the top-of-the-line. Let me put it this way, I have a pretty wicked system in my truck but, except for listening to talk radio on am (because my ZEN only has an FM tuner) and the occasional mood to rattle my teeth, I plug in my ZEN Vision M and these babies. I even used them recently on a trip on the bike. The noise suppression with these on my Harley at 80MPH was WAY more than I ever would have believed if someone had just told me it was possible and they have rendered the cd player in the bike insignificant. You CAN'T GO WRONG WITH THESE.
By Shawn on March 31, 2006
For the average listener, these are a miracle. Recently, you may have heard the the iPoD is being blamed for hearing loss. Unfortunately, people often turn up the volume of music to drown out the noise of the world around them. These are wonderful in that they isolate the sound from your ear canal, allowing you to listen to crystal clear music at 25% volume capability.
Assitionally, these are the few earphones I can wear while running. Perhaps I have oddly shaped ears, but usually the stock or standard earbuds provided with a music device fall quickly once I pick up the place. These remain firmly where they are.
I bought my first pair while I was in college and low on income. It was a decision I never regretted. I'm only buying new ones because the first pair fell out of my mp3 players and were lost on the street. I'm happy to buy again, and earphonesolutions.com is good enough to get my business a second time.
By cory on March 12, 2006
These are excellent for the price. The cord is very thick and seems as it would survive as much abuse as you could possibly put the headphones through. I would highly recommend these headphones to anyone because they are the best that can be bought for under $100.

The EG Series is Shure's Gaming Edition earphones. They deliver the same outstanding sound quality, isolation, and fit as Shure's award-winning consumer models (EC Series), in a format designed for use with portable gaming devices like the Sony PSP. Gaming Edition earphones are black, and feature a shorter cable (6 inches) and gaming-oriented packaging. Other than that it is exactly the same product in every respect
By mitchell on November 10, 2005
great company offering great service and a great product. first time in ear listening purchase has proven not to be as troublesome as reported by others. shure supplies enough options to assure a comfortable fit.
By Harry G on November 3, 2005
These new E2G look VERY sharp! Just got them from EarphoneSolutions. Much better looking than my friend's E2c. I read they are supposed to sound the same as E2c but maybe cause mine are newer I think they sound better too ;)
By Francis on November 3, 2005
Still too big compared to my E3c but a nice looking back up.
Huge upgrade from stock earbuds. A great first in-ear earphone. Good bass and much more detail than consumer in-ear earphones. The cables on the SCL2 Black is 5 inches shorter than the SCL2 clear. We prefer them with the shorter cables because it's less to deal with and still enough to reach the iPod on your waist. The sound of its direct competitor, the UE's 3STUDIO, is slightly better but the fit and comfort of the SCL2 and 3STUDIO are very different. The 3STUDIO is designed to stick out of the ear and if you wear them that way the 3STUDIO will be more comfortable than the SCL2 which is designed to stay flush in the ear. Some of our customers prefer the fitting of the 3STUDIO. The SCL2 are very nicely finished and they come with a 2 Year no hassle replacement or repair policy by Shure when purchased from EarphoneSolutions.
Best for mowing the lawn and commuting and as a first in-ear earphones. An affordable solution in the in-ear universe.
