"Let me cut to the chase: This could be it. The Sennheiser HD800 could be it. Early impressions tell me I'm listening to one of the best headphones I've ever heard. Longer term listening will eventually tell the real story, but the first impressions are so strong—so positive--that I feel like I'm trying to mince declarative words just out of a sense of protocol, a sense of reasonableness--because one couldn't possibly make that kind of decision so soon, could he? So let me say this: I have no doubt in my mind that the Sennheiser HD 800 is, beyond any shadow of a doubt (even this early on) one of the finest dynamic headphones I've ever heard. And I am quite confident in saying that Sennheiser's new HD800 is (yes, again, even this early on) one of the best headphones I've heard of any type, period."

The best dynamic headphone?
By poikkeus from San Francisco on July 6, 2009

Some might consider it almost sinful to spend so much on a pair of headphones, but the HD800 brings you that much closer to an accurate stereo experience. The main distinction most will notice are the mids, which are full but not over-done. While the HD650 were too bassy for my tastes, the HD800 attempts to pull off an aural balancing act.
Then again, as the statistics already suggested, these phones attempt to deliver a full-bodied sound, top to bottom. As a result, these aren't the ideal phones for listening to your iPod; the HD800 is ideal for source material that will do justice to the material.
True, these phones are a little bulky, but not to the degree that would adversely affect your listening enjoyment. By the same logic, they're not particularly attractive (though I rarely listen to music while looking in a mirror).
Pros:
Full, well-balanced sound. Soft and comfortable. Richer mids give a wider sense of your sound than with many other phones. Very well constructed.Cons:
Somewhat pricey. Not particularly attractive.I would recommend this item to a friend.
