Overview

Sennheiser HD280PRO Headphones

Sennheiser’'s impressive HD 280 Professional headphones deliver accurate sound as well as convenience and durability. Designed with padding that cups the ear and forms a seal, these closed circumaural headphones provide extreme isolation from external sounds. They’re also excellent at preventing sounds from leaking out, making them a great choice for recording applications. With their 32 dB attenuation of external noise, Sennheiser HD 280 Professional headphones are ideal for DJs who need to monitor music in high-noise environments. Their swiveling ear cups provide flexibility and convenience allowing DJs to hear both new and existing music tracks simultaneously. As party guests are out on the dance floor shaking it like a Polaroid picture, you’ll have no problem getting an earful of OutKast’s “Hey Ya!” while you’re cueing up the B-52’s “Love Shack”. The Sennheiser HD 280 PRO headphones are comfortable to wear, even during long periods of listening. With their sturdy construction and extensive features, they easily exceed the demands of the most challenging professional environments.

From the moment I slipped these babies over my ears, it was love at first sound. The music on the Sennheiser HD 280 Professional headphones sounded incredible - clear, crisp, and perfect. I felt like I was hearing for the first time. I actually prefer the sound of these to my overpriced stereo system at home. Although the phones are not expressly "noise-canceling," you'll be dead to the world once you slip them on.

Even without music playing the HD 280’s create a pretty quiet atmosphere, and the lowest volume cuts out background noise almost completely. Do you have to deal with annoying coworkers, screaming children, or a nagging wife? Not with the 280’s – it’s instant portable peace. Sure, you’ll look a little dorky wearing these big things on the subway, but you’ll be too busy rediscovering what music really sounds like to care. All music genres sound incredible on them, but classical and instrumental ballads are slightly clearer. Heavy metal isn’t quite as clear, but considering that heavy metal music isn’t written to sound clear, it’s hardly a concession. In any event, they increase in clarity as you break them in.

The Sennheiser HD 280 headphones are also extremely comfortable. The width of the earphones completely covers your ears, and the padding on the top of the band sits comfortably on your head. Ladies will really enjoy this feature, because it will not pull on their delicate earrings and hair. The HD 280s can tend to feel a little tight and heavy after wearing them for a couple hours, but that will likely disappear after you break them in…which will happen soon because you’ll want to permanently glue them to your ears.

I have had a couple pairs of Sennehiser's and I have always been happy with there sound. And the sound and quality are always exceptional. I have tested this pair and compared it to others in it's class for sound and quality and I feel more then satisfied with them for daily use. The conclusion was that they offer way more for the money and I am sticking with this company for all my future headphones. Pros: Light, comfortable and sound great from lows to highs. The sound is smooth and sounds great for all types of music. Cons: Not really anything except the cables always seem to need improvement on all headphones.

I got these mainly for sound engineering, but they work great for everything I've put them through. The construction is very good, the sound reproduction is great. I am now able to mix and be able to truly isolate the separate channels Pros: Cons:

This is my Dark Knight!

Setup: - Sennheiser HD280 Pro - Asus Xonar DX - Ipod Classic 120GB - PS3 / HDMI out, Stereo out from Monitor I will say this is a knight that can fight the battle anywhere anytime. As a knight, it needs training, thus i burn-in my headphone for at least 50 hours prior to testing to make sure it is ripe, and ready to battle. Burn in process that i took was playing my songs through my ipod classic, so the headphone can adjust to my hearing level with the variety of music that i have. After burn-in, i do several test with a specific criteria to know how well it do on those area. First, i test the low frequency. I listened to my AppleSeed EX-Machina - Seeds soundtrack to see how well the "thumps" or "oomphs" that they can do. the result was an OK. You can feel it, but didn't make your ear tired. Next, i want to imagine a pop star singing right in front of me. So i pick some songs like jazz or blues to see how well they do with voice reproduction. One word... Amazing.... I can hear their breath and feel like it's alive. Next time, i might just use it to watch a bluray live concert to see how well it do. Last, i want some sparkly stars tingling in my ears, so i pop in some orchestra, accoustics instrumental cds, and boom, there you hear the plucking of guitars, and the violin, all the other sounds that makes you feel like floating in the sky. Music felt sharp, and clarity was present. Now we'll talk about the bad thing about it. It's tight....... I can't stress more on this problem. The headphone provide good insulation, but it is SO GOOD, that it crushes your head, and you can't last more that 1 hour with it on.The pads are soft, but the curve is just not made for big heads. The build looks strong, but i'm still afraid to crack it if i try to relieve the stress on the handle. Pros: just so good, that i think i need to wear it everytime i want to listen to music. Cons: it's just so tight, that i should remind myself to take it off once in a while.

My favorite studio cans

So I've had these for about 7 or 8 years, and I've tried plenty of other 'phones, but I always find myself reaching for these when I need a solid, comfy pair of accurate headphones that aren't TOO flat-sounding. Being a bass player, I tend to need more low-end in my mix when I'm in a session, and most of the time, between a little bump in my mix and the sound these output, I'm happy as a clam! But just because they respect the bottom doesn't mean you lose out on any clarity; things come through very nicely at all frequencies. Bottom line, if you're looking for a reasonably-priced set of studio 'phones that are well-rounded, go for these. Pros: Nice bottom end sound, very warm Comfy! Seriously, I've worn these for hours and barely had any earache Nice long telephone-style cable. Comes with an eighth inch to quarter inch adapter, as all pro headphones should. Cons: The warmer tone of these cans tends to round off the sound of things like cymbals, distorted guitars, etc. The long cable is annoying if I want to use these to listen to my iPod or something that's on my person
