"These earphones rock! I was originally debating between the Westone 3s and the IE8s, but went with Sennheiser because I read that it preformed better with the bass heavy techno, trance, and drum and bass I listen to. I was coming from a pair of Shure SE210s, a pair of earphones which I considered great for their price. But the IE8s have blown me away. The level of detail is much greater, and for a pair of earphones they have a spectacular soundstage. I would definitely recommend these earphones to anyone who is willing to drop the cash -- $300+ might seem like a lot for just earphones but trust me you would be spending just as much for a pair of headphones that can compare."

Finally Satisfied
By LaLance Richardson from San Antonio, TX on December 18, 2009
These were offered to me as an upgrade deal. I originally ordered the IE-7's (out of stock when I placed my order)to replace my IE-6's. I've been a big fan of Sennheiser for a while, but these are just amazing. From listening to Dizzy, to Framing Hanley, to Nas and Common. Privi Bass, Treble, and everything in between. If you really want the top quality sound, look no further.
Built very solid
Pros:
Build, comfort, amazing sound.
Cons:
Price
I would recommend this item to a friend.
Recent Purchase of Sennheiser IE 8 In-Ear Earphones
By Scott Raymes from Eagle, Idaho on September 28, 2009
I currently own a pair of Westone UM2's and find these new Sennheiser IE-8's to be very comparable. The fit and finsh are first quality and they sound great. These are a very comfortable Earphone especially if you are the type that takes them on and off while listening.
Pros:
Comfort
Fit & Finish
User adjustable sound.
Cons:
Price
IE8 = GREAT!
By Bruce Chandler on May 1, 2009
I have both the IE8 and the Westone 3 earphones. I did an A-B comparison test with both, using my iPod and Stevie Nick's "I Can't Wait" and a-HA's "Take On Me". After putting the silicone ear tips on and taking the foam off the Westone 3, the sound was MUCH better to me. It's a personal thing and you've have to experiment yourself. My take on the side-by-side, BOTH earphones are TOP NOTCH. The Westone 3 may have a touch more bass; the IE8's may have a hair more brilliance, but it was so difficult to pick a clear cut winner. The IE8 does have a plug in cable that can be easily replaced. It also feels a bit more solid in build quality, but I'd be hard pressed to pick a definate winner between the two. This is my first experience with in-ear's and up until now, I never thought such tiny "headphones" could produce such GREAT GREAT sound...
Quick IE8 Review
By Michael Demaio on April 26, 2009
The IE8's are my first truly high end IEMS, as I've mostly been in the low end and middle prices IEMS previously. After burn in (which for me I was happy at around 60 hours) the highs are nice and extended and have a great sparkle. The vocals are smooth, and the bass adds another dimension to them.
They seem to be very durable and the cable on them is bar none the best I have seen.
They may be too bassy for some but bassheads rejoice.
The only glaring imperfection with them to me is the fit and isolation. There are some possible mods to improve the fit/isolation but I haven't tried much so far.
Highly recommended to anyone who likes big bass, smooth vocals and great highs.
They may be a bit much for certain people though because of their big sound, and to those people I'd recommend their little brother the IE7.

Bought these to replace Sure 530s which had the cable problems. Simply fantastic sounding headphones. Built quality great, cables are quite, bass is very deep and tight (after burn in) and mid and highs are almost equal and in some cases better than the 530s. Also the wide sound stage is
very enjoyable.. highly recommended... tips take some playing with to get a good seal.
We love the sound of the IE8 specially for Classical music. The only thing that really doesn't get us too excited is the fit. The earpieces are slightly heavy and depending on your ear, it can be difficult to keep them in place. Other than that, they have excellent bass with a micro knob that will let you adjust that part of the frequency.
