i love my turbines!
By Reagan from Singapore on February 25, 2012
i was looking around for an in-ear which has very strong bass but always came up short with various brands until i tried the Turbines at a local store. i was blown away by how deep the bass was! it was clear and undistorted unlike cheap earphones.
i didn't like the silicon tips provided, though. i'm currently using mine with comply tips and i must say the fit and seal is perfect, which enriches the bass even more. for those complaining about poor fit and seal, you need to get the comply tips! you won't regret it. it's not even heavy, i don't know why some people are complaining about it! definitely my favourite in-ear so far!
Pros:
strong, powerful bass
it just looks awesome
Cons:
cables do get tangled
cable strain relief could be better

Great for the gym
By Justin from San Francisco, CA on December 22, 2010
I use these primarily for listening to industrial/electronica music while at the gym. For this purpose, they are really great. Mostly I want to feel the bass and the beat, so that I'm motivated to grind away on a cardio machine.
After experimenting with the included tips and finding the best fit, the bass really comes through--strong and deep. I have UM2 and I must say that I greatly prefer the Monster Turbines for the gym. While the bass is tighter on the UM2, I always found it a little weak for the music I listen to. Some of my songs sound quite different with the Monsters. The low frequencies come through much more on the Monsters, and in general the bass has much more thump.
I really like the fact that these have a cord that is not overly long. When my iPod is in my pocket, the cord is just right. On the UM2, the cord is way too long and it's always dangling and getting caught on something at the gym.
These might not be the best choice for accurate listening to classical or jazz (I can't say for sure because I don't own this style of music), but for electronica at the gym, I couldn't be happier.
Pros:
Great bass
Short cord
Looks cool--black cord with black chrome housing
Good price

Merchant Response:
Justin,
Keep in mind that the cables of the UM2 are designed to be routed behind the ear towards the back of your head. In that scenario, my UM2 cables are never in the way while I'm at the gym.
Thanks for the review!

delivery time respect for France =) Bravo
About headphones, ... it's really powerful bass, the sound is clear, clean and even with mp3 to the iphone. (I took the version with the control talk).
I have not yet been tested with my Cowon FLAC, but I'm already largely satisfied!
I have the "Monster Beats by Dr. Dre", the sound is a quality can pay the same, of course with more powerful bass for "turbine".
A purchase that I recommend to all, it's cheap for change that will bring her over earphone original Apple
Pros:
Quality of material
The class box ^^
Sound
Bass
Contral Talk
Cons:
More size of triflange can be good
The control talk is in plastix, look like cheap, and make some noise when we move

Best at this price range
By Jeff from Spokane, WA on December 21, 2009
These newcomers provide the small, light profile of the UM-1s with the full bass response of the Ultimate Ear extended-bass model. Best I've heard yet for less than $150.
Pros:
Light weight, comfortable, come with 5 sets of ear tips
Cons:
lacks a "stiff" portion of wire next to the earphone to accomodate looping the cable over your ear
I would recommend this item to a friend.
Amazing, but one complaint
By Thomas from down South on December 12, 2009
These earbuds are great. They have full rich melody and an accurate mix. BUT, I have one issue. These earbuds were advertised for the bass, which I find lacking. Oh its there all right, you can hear it, but it needs to be turned up louder in the mix. And yes, i have a complete seal, almost better isolation than my noise-cancelling Sonies. I used these earbuds to listen to Lil Wayne's A Milli, to test the bass. Normally, the bass would be loud and vibrate your headphones almost out of your ears. This didnt happen. The bass has a good full sound, but it's so quiet! a simple solution would be to turn up the volume, but then the listener is subjected to other noises just as loud as the first time, but the bass is still more noticeable. if they had put a little more emphasis on the bass in the earphones, they would be perfect. All in all, not a bad purchase. The highs are absolutely stunning and the mids are rich and warm. Overall, a good product.
If anyone knows something i dont about getting the bass to be louder, please let me know.
Pros:
-excellent mids and superior highs
-for $150, a highly detailed set of earbuds
Cons:
-bass is too soft in ithe mix of the earbuds.

Monster Turbines vs Ultimate Ears EB5's
By Jeff from Omaha, Ne. on December 5, 2009
Just got my new set of Monster Turbines and I must say these are some sweet earbuds.
The fit is great, very comfortable more than my EB5's. The sound is better in the high and middle range.
But not as deep and strong in the bass range as the EB5's, sorry Monster. I like your products and I own a lot of them.
And these are some great buds if you are moving up from cheap junk buds. I'm not out to mislead or fall into
hyping a product up that doesn't make the cut. But for the money and since Ultimate Ears was bought out and the price went
up you can't go wrong here. I'm still happy with mine and look forward to new and improved models.
disappointed. very sharp crisp highs, lacking bass
By Rich from McLean, VA on November 17, 2009
I recently broke my headphones and decided to buy these based on reviews on this site. While waiting for these to arrive, I bought a "cheaper" pair of earphones to use (Creative Aurvana). Naturally, when the Monster arrived, I couldn't wait to put them on. WOW. very crisp and sharp highs. Disappointing mid range and bass. The highs are the only difference between these and a cheap headphones.
If you want warm sound with decent bass, try the Creative Aurvana. I would say that the Creative doesn't have clear highs so if you listen to alot of jazz or vocals, skip them. On the other hand, if you like jazz or vocals, buy the Monster Turbine.
Pros:
looks great
Cons:
see reviews.
expensive for the performance
Merchant Response:
Rich, in order to get a good bass, a very good seal is essential with all high-end in-ear earphones.
One of the Best
By Felix from Port Coquitlam, British Columbia on June 29, 2009
These have some of the best Lows available on a pair of Earphones along with the Sennheiser IE8, and the Futuresonics Atrio.
They have a very powerful, quick, and deep low response, with a decent presentation of the high and mid Frequencies. This is then all wrapped up in a warm signature, with a above average soundstage.
Comfort is very good with the excellently designed silicone sleeves that i had no problems getting a seal with.
However, if you are someone that likes a mid forward presentation, you may want to go with something from Shure, Westone, or the Phiaton PS200. If you're a high person that's looking for something competitively priced, look at the Phonak Audeo PFE.
Pros:
-Powerful, Deep, and Quick Lows
-Great Packaging
-Quality Build
-Excellent Sleeves
-Price is affordable.
Cons:
-Microphonics
-Tangle prone cables
-No Wire management ring on the cable
I would recommend this item to a friend.
Awesome
By Kev from Vancouver, BC on May 26, 2009
Very good, like them!
Pros:
Good sound. Nice Bass. Clear undistorted bass, even at high volumes! Clear sound. Nice look
Cons:
No volume control, but picked a $7 one. None of the earpieces fit me, but i was lucky i had some fitting ones from my last earbuds. no cord ajuster that you can slide up and down
The TURBINE has by far the best bass among all earphones under $150. The fit was good but we have not tested the comfort for longer listening hours. Nevertheless, we can firmly state that it's far better than its competitor in the bass category, the Ultimate Ears 5EB, for fit, comfort and sound. Good mid range, good detail on the treble as well and better bass than the 5EB, which is a big statement in itself, without the bulkiness and cable issues.
