Summary of Customer Ratings & Reviews
Theses are the most expensive head phones I've ever bought but they are also the best. I listen mainly to classic and indie rock and I don't think you can find a better phone for those genres. Excellent bass and in your face musical clarity. These definitely are colored headphones and the soundstage is small but they still manage to provide great detail. If looking for the best headphone overall, these aren't them(see HD800, T1's,etc.). But rock lovers will surely rejoice when theses are on your head. Pros: Excellent with rock music Lively, fun sound Light weight Cons: Not the most comfortable phones Not suitable for all types of music
I owned some Grados in the past and had big expectations from this one. First thing you notice is that it is made from beautiful mahogany wood, more metal is used compared to plastic on lower models and have deeper wooden cups compared to RS-2i or SR-325i. They are extremely comfortable to wear due to light weigh a very little pressure on your ears, comparing to SR-325i for example. They do look extremely elegant and "old" like a good old instrument, a piece of art indeed! The sound signature: If you are interested in this headphones you must know that they do sound very different comparing to other brands, Grado has a house sound no others have. They do sound extremely detailed with about the best midrange and highs I've listened, not the lowest and deepest bass but it is present and about the right amount of it. Believe me or not but this headphone loves wooden instruments most, like violin or acoustic guitars. I never heard a better violin or a better guitar on another headphone. Due to deeper cups compared to RS-2i or SR-325i this headphone have a bigger soundstage with better imaging and better instrument separation, to sound at it's best i strongly recommend a headphone amplifier for them. If you want to tame the highs a bit you can choose a tube headphone amplifier. If you prefer older music like pop or rock with a good punch and speed this is what you need, if you like jazz and large scale classical more i would recommend GS1000i and PS1000 instead of theese. But for old or modern rock this is about the best ! Pros: - Best midrange I've heard - Extremely detailed - Airy, very open sound, good stereo imaging and instrument placement - Punchy, fast, dynamic, fun sound signature, what you can ask for more more ? Cons: - Hights can sometimes became fatiguing - Cable is bending easily, can annoy you - Packaging is not what you expect at this price - A bit pricey, hey, but it's among the best! - Extreme care must be applied because of wood
Thanks for the review. Nice pics! ;)
These headphones will bring out all the lost detail you never heard from your songs; detail even $300 range headphones miss out on. I recommend buying these if you have the money for them! You will NOT regret this purchase. Pros: looks sound light weight Cons: can get uncomfortable after wearing for 3 hours+ but after a slight readjustment it should be fine
These are some of the most dynamic headphones around; dipping them in the goo of any genre will see them come out practically unscathed, although perhaps with a few blemishes. With a very natural (but not especially neutral) sound, the RS1 provides a very euphonic sound without skimping on the music. They have excellent inner detail, however they are rarely the focus of the sound. Although not quite as strong as the HD600 in classical music, this headphone trumps it in just about every other genre and is easily driven from any source- yes that includes an iPod.. Highly recommended if you want to hear the music in your collection and appreciate a visceral bass response that will get your foot tapping. With the RS1 you don't need to spend big to get audiophile sound. Pros: Doesn't Need an Amp Fantastic sense of "music" Great bass impact Cons: Headstage is fairly small for an open headphone Supraaural Bass extension is not the greatest
Question & Answers
Questions on Grado RS1e Headphones
With the open air design do you still hear ambient noise through the head set?
Would a closed design be better if you are listening in a a noisy environment?
- Tech Support answered:
- A closed design would definitely be better on a noisy environment. Mainly because with closed design you create an isolated chamber allowing you to listen to your music at lower volume. With the RS1i you would most likely let sound out (leaking music to your colleagues) and letting background noise in. They are awesome in a controlled room such as your living room with no TV, kids in bed, etc. :)
Can you deliver the grado rs1i headphones to Greece?which are the payment possibilities?delivery time? THANKS A LOT.
- Tech Support answered:
- Unfortunately we are not allowed to ship Grado products outside the US. We also do not ship to Greece. We apologize for the inconvenience.
