Some airplanes will require this adapter so that you can listen to the in-flight program.

Gold plated jack
By Kathleen from Northwestern NJ on July 5, 2011

I used this jack on an old 737 from the east coast to Anchorage, Alaska. I was glad I had it when I stuck my earphones in one of the jacks I only got mono. I had purchased it from earphone solutions right before the trip thinking that I probably would not need it but I was glad that I bought it. It was cheap insurance that I could watch the airline movie in stereo. There are still plenty of these planes in service and it seems like you need this adapter in order to get a stereo signal through the earphones. It is small light and cheap so make sure that you have one before you get on board.
Pros:
Worked fine on an old Continental 737Cons:
nothingI would recommend this item to a friend.

FINE But No Longer Required
By Jim from Central PA on February 1, 2011

It seems that the airlines have switched to the single stereo jack from this older style and you really don't need it.
Just take your earbuds...
Merchant Response:
Some aircraft will still have the dual female jack on the armrest. Some airlines have more planes like that than others. It really depends on which company you fly the most.
Thanks for the feedback!yay it works!

worked like it was supposed to. Was able to use it for my recent trip back to Taiwan. No more crappy airline headphones. however, when the announcements start, it's usually really loud. could be a result of my in-ear headphones.
Pros:
works. Cons:
loud announcements. I would recommend this item to a friend.
Overpriced

This item should go for a dollar or two. Low build quality. The asking price is WAY too much.
