Andre Young, known to the world as Dr. Dre, is one of the most influential rappers and producers in the history of west coast hip-hop. Responsible for the rise of gangsta rap alongside the late Eazy-E and Ice Cube, Dre is also the producer behind Snoop Dogg, Xzibit, Nas, 50 Cent and Eminem. He's won Grammys for his productions and for his 1993 debut album The Chronic as an artist. Dre is known throughout the industry as a perfectionist who has a meticulous level of control over all of his projects.
In 2008, Dr. Dre launched Beats By Dre in collaboration with Monster. Along with Interscope Records' Jimmy Iovine, Dre set out to create a line of headphones that can give the listener the same audio experience that they would have in a recording studio with the artists. "With Beats," Dre says, "people are going to hear what the artists hear, and listen to the music the way they should: the way I do." Beats By Dre is the result of a 3 year collaboration with Monster's audio engineers to create a product line that met with the producer's infamously high standards.
The hallmarks of Beats By Dre are sound isolation and lack of distortion at high volumes. The various models in the Beats line all tout advanced speaker design, power, clarity and – most importantly – deep, driving bass that's ideal for listening to hip-hop. Mix in a smooth, minimalist design and comfortable earcups, and Beats By Dre give the listener a sonic experience they can't find elsewhere.
The Beats by Dre Studio is the Beats line's high-end headphone. This high-definition headset features powered amplification and active noise canceling beneath its glossy, scratch-resistant exterior. Whether you're listening on a plane, on the subway or while relaxing at home - or even while mixing your own tracks – the Studio will deliver incredible sound in any situation.
Smaller and lighter than the Studio, the Beats By Dre Solo is a more mobile on-ear headphone experience with the same high-performance sound quality. Like the Studio, the Solo lets you take calls and control your iPhone or iPod conveniently via the on-cable controls. And like other Beats By Dre products, this headset has a three year limited warranty. In addition to the standard black and white models, there is also a special (PRODUCT) RED edition of the Beats By Dre Solo that benefits the fight against AIDS and features a limited-edition glossy red finish.
Finally, Beats By Dre has the Tour, one of the best in-ear headphones on the market today. With tangle-free flat cables and comfortable noise-isolating earbud tips, the Tour is great at delivering shattering bass like you wouldn’t believe on a pair of in-ear headphones. The Tour has an ultra-fast new driver design that reproduces the full sound and detail of digital beats. The Tour is available with or without the Monster ControlTalk feature that lets you control your phone or music player right on the cord.

Beats by DRE headphones are just that. Style with excellent sound.
Kevin from Sudbury, ON have this to say about the BEATS STUDIO by DRE:"Yes, they sound good, but are they worth 350$? Yes and no. These cans deliver superior clarity to most cans without going into audiophile territory. Bass is the obvious strong point here and due to this it squeezes out the treble to a degree and the midrange almost completely. A fiddle with the EQ remedies this to a great degree though. This being said, you might doubt that these anywhere near awesome but this isn't true. They sound amazing, especially for someone upgrading from stock buds or Skullcandy's (ugh). These cans are very aggressive and present a very forward image for the listener. This is the main reason they're good for portable because this image can get tiring over longer periods of time. The main reason these sound so good is due to the internal digital amplifier in the left earcup. This enhances the little details that would otherwise be lost when listening to your music. It should be noted that a listener should encode their MP3s at at least 320kbps if not lossless for these cans will not forgive a shoddy recording. By revealing everything, you should make sure there is enough to work with. Definitely buy if you have some sort of disposable income, otherwise start saving now.
Pros:
- Great forward presentation
- Nice deep bass
- Good clarity
Cons:
- Bass can overwhelm mids and highs
- Better audiophile sound for less money, but not portable"
