Disappointing Highs

My CX300 are getting old, so I intended the CX400-II as replacement and small upgrade. What followed was a big disappointment. While the bass is quite good and reaches pretty deep, the highs are terribly exaggerated and washed out. Clarity simply turns into annoying noise, getting even worse at higher volumes. Besides that the plug turns out to be quite bulky.
I returned to my CX300 and keep searching...
Pros:
good bass
volume control (durability?)
Cons:
annoying highs
impossible to enjoy music at higher volumes

I expected more on these earphones. Don't get me wrong, they are good. Not excellent though. I would have expected more clarity on the high tones. The sound feels a bit dark. This makes it possible to listen with higher volume, but isn't recommended by ear-doctors ;) If you get these with 50 dollars, it's ok. Don't pay more.

You get what you pay for here. Much improved over the Denon AH-C252K's, which they should be. Comfortable ear fit, handy volume control and sounds great on the i-touch. While the mid-range was flawless the lows were o.k..

I received these new CX400-ii from Sennheiser on a warranty return for replacing my CX500's which developed a short in the cable near the jack. These simply are blowing away the CX500's. I hear much more detail and articulation. Don't hesitate to buy them. Good price. These sound just as good as the IE8's I tried and returned.
