Consensual facts: iPod rocks, the stock earbuds suck.

Newsweek, Business Week, Time, plus numerous other audio publications have one thing in common: they all published articles at one time or another praising the iPod and criticizing the quality of the stock earbuds.

Fact: these in-ear earphones transform the iPod into a different animal. They blow the stock earbuds away and provide a totally different experience.

Some of you may say: “Ok, they are saying that because they sell the higher end earphones.” No. Think the other way around. We sell them because we found out ourselves what kind of quality and different experience these earphones can provide.

Now, note the following: the in-ear earphones are not fool proof. They require a few days of patience from their new owners. One needs to try these for at least 5 – 10 days before one can declare: “I love it.” or “I don’t.”

From experience we know that 99% of the folks that decide they don’t like them is because they were not patient enough and didn’t use the correct sleeve size and type (each individual will have a “correct” sleeve), didn’t get the seal right etc. For those willing to try a bit longer a very nice reward will be waiting for them.

Why these are not fool proof?

Because your ear canal, in this case, will play a major role: it will be the speaker cabinet. Frequency response and mainly the low frequencies strength will be directly proportional to the quality of the seal you obtain. That’s why some manufacturers don’t have a frequency response curve: it will vary with each individual ear canal shape and size.
