I use this with both Shure se215s and Westone W40s. Before this BT cable came available, I was using a competitive bluetooth receiver with headphone jack along with the westone epic cable. Both are aptx capable so had similar sound quality, both being excellent in my opinion. I found the Westone BT cable inferior in two significant traits, connection stability and pairing with multiple devices. The westone BT cable experienced significantly more skips/dropouts when used outdoors. The severity varied depending on whether I wore the cable cinched to the back of my neck or cinched in front, with the later much better but still not good enough. In both cases, the phone was in my front right jean pocket. The BT receiver experienced no skips when clipped to my collar, closest approximation to the BT cable placement. Both are capable of pairing to multiple devices, the issue for the westone BT cable was to get it to switch from my tablet to phone. I have to make sure bluetooth was off on the tablet which is normal. However the BT cable would not connect to the phone, even switching it on and off. Finally I have to go into the bluetooth menu on the phone and manual connect which is usually successful on the second try. The tablet is Samsung Galaxy tab 8.4 pro and the phone is Samsung Note 4. One other concern is compatibility with Shure headphones. When attaching the se215s you don't get that reassuring mmcx snap sound, just a faint thud instead. The W40s have the snap. Upon inspection the insulation on the mmcx connector of the BT cable is bottoming out on the body of the se215s while on the W40s there is some separation. The W40s could rotate freely on the connector while the se215s are very snug. To me this suggests the se215s may not be fully engaging the mmcx connector. On two separate occasions the left se215 spontaneously ejected from the cable and on a third it was lost. I currently have an order pending with earphone solutions to replace the lost se215, as these are my knock around headphones, reserving the W40s for more serious listening. I might mention the westone epic cable had a similar problem and wouldn't even engage with the shure se215s until I trimmed back the insulation on the cable mmcx connector. Perhaps a similar procedure would work with the BT cable albeit may void the warranty, which is why I didn't do it. My final disappointment with the BT cable was that it has failed while charging, and has now been sent back to Westone for warranty repair/replacement.

This is a very good solution for ditching the cord for your headphones. I do not notice much difference between this and the supplied headphone cord that I received with my Westone UM20 Pros. It is very easy to pair and use with different devices. I have used it with an iPad and iPod Nano. I will say with the iPod Nano I do get some interference. I believe this is due to the Nano having a weak bluetooth signal or having lots of interference where I was using the cable. Overall I really enjoy the cable and it features. It allows you to control the Apple devices from the Volume Up and Down buttons which is very handy. You do have to be careful where you press because you can pause the device if you are not careful (this is not the end of the world) and it is a learning curve for the placement of the buttons.

Just got the cable yesterday, so this is a quick first impression. Good: The sound quality is excellent paired with W60s, and the small size and weight are a bonus. Not so good: Dropouts Paired with an iPhone 5s running the latest version of iOS, in the two hours I used the cable out walking around in what I would consider low interference areas, with no people or buildings near me for hundreds of feet, I experienced repeated dropouts - probably 20 or so over the two hours. The dropouts recover quickly - much less than a second - but they do interrupt the music and are pretty annoying. And my concern is when I am in high radio traffic areas - airports, public venues, etc - that the problem will be worse. Form Factor I'm a huge fan of the shaped cable ends that come with W60s and the way they wrap around your ears helps keep the buds secure. The Bluetooth cable is your standard wiggly cable and doesn't feel as secure hanging straight down, so I've tried the "wrap around" method instead. Which leads me to probably my biggest form factor complaint, and that's what appears to be the design decision that the cables should hang straight down from the buds, putting the controls and battery in front of you, not behind your neck. I find it really annoying to have it there when I'm walking, and so I've decided I'll live without the mic and wear it "backwards" for comfort. Controls I would have much preferred rubberized buttons with a lot more tactile feel when you're pressing them, instead of smooth plastic and button travel that feels cheap. A big downside wearing the cable backwards is trying to use the controls by feel, so this one compounds the ergonomics problem for me. Westone could have done a lot better here. Will I keep the cable? Too soon to tell. I love not being wired to my phone and dealing with the cable getting caught on things, but I'm not thrilled by the dropouts and the ergonomics. But that's me, and some of my issues are self-inflicted by my choice to wear the cable behind my neck. The things I see as negatives may not affect you at all.

Overall good 3-Button Control for Android with Westone, Finally!

Yes

Finally, actual three button android control for Westone (and Shure). For reference, I'm using the AT&T Galaxy S7 Edge using Audible and Spotify. Had to go "3rd party" previously for three-button control (for both Westone and Shure). It wasn't pretty, but it worked. Button control: Not what I expected. Volume up/down control, check. :) Forward and backwards on Android? Well, yes. Though, its not necessarily natural for you to need to go to the volume up and down for next track or previous track respectively. You need to hold it down for a second to get it to progress or regress the track. The typical second-nature "double-click" action, most will use, just increases or decreases your volume. Bose Soundsport wireless does it better for the skip track (no previous track option, I think). Audio quality: I don't notice a difference between wired cable and Bluetooth. So its the earphones that dictate your sound quality, as it should. If you are buying this cable, you already own some sort of replaceable cable model of Westone or Shure earphones. You don't need me to provide audio details on products you were already convinced to purchase. Fitting: It takes some getting used to. The earpieces themselves are the soft plastic, so no molding to your ear shape. The controls and battery tend to lie under your ear but above your spine. Let's just say it feels odd at times. I keep trying to re-adjust them. (Side note: I will say that being able to change between Westone W60's and Shure SE535's with this single cable is helpful. We'll just say the "delicate" nature of the face plates on my W60's are convincing me to stick with my SE535's single body design.) Overall: 4 out of 5 stars. I'm taking half a star off for the feel and another for the overall button control.

Q.

Will this work with all Westone monitors with removable cables, or only the most recent line with MMCX connectors? For example, will this convert a 3-year old pair of W2's to wireless monitors?

Will this work with all Westone monitors with removable cables, or only the most recent line with MMCX connectors?

YES!

For example, will this convert a 3-year old pair of W2's to wireless monitors?

NO. Because the W2 doesn't have replaceable cables. You need to be able to connect the cable on the earpiece. So only the new models W10, W20, W30, W40, W50, W60 and UM PRO 10, 20, 30 and 50 will work since these are the only models with the MMCX replaceable cables.

They will also work with Shure models as listed above on the description.
Q.

Will this work on Shure earphones, specifically the SE425?

asked by Peter T

A.
Tech Support answered:
Yes!
Q.

I don't understand the picture? Is it cut?' What sort of connection is it? Jack 3.5 I guess?

asked by Jean-Marie

A.
Tech Support answered:
There is no connection. It's a wireless bluetooth cable.

The only connection is to the earpieces. You must have an earphone with replaceable cables that have the single pin MMCX connector like the new Westone and Shure models.
Q.

Is this Bluetooth cable compatible with the Westone UM2 earphones?

asked by JJ

A.
Tech Support answered:
Hello JJ,

The Bluetooth cable is only compatible with earphones that have the single pin MMCX connector.

The old UM2 has a 2-pin connector so that wouldn't work.
